Easter 2026
A very happy Easter to you all
Dear Parents and Carers,
Thank you all for coming along to our Parent Teacher meetings over the past few weeks, it was good to see so many of you there, we had a 96% attendance over the two evenings. Mrs Martin and I had a lovely two evenings welcoming you all and having a good catch up, often it is so busy at the school gates when we are on duty. Combined with the assessment data report from Arbor, we hope that you have received a good update on your child's progress.
Don't forget that you can find past reports, assessment and attendance data on the Arbor App.
Next week we have Holy Week when we remember Christ's death and resurrection.
We are very grateful to Year 5 pupils and the teaching team who marked the end of our Lenten preparation in school with a solemn but beautiful walking Stations of the Cross, pictured above. With lovely actions, reading and chants we walked around the school grounds bringing the Easter story alive in the minds of the school community.
Don't forget. we close at Midday tomorrow for the end of the Spring Term.
The staff and I wish you a very blessed Easter, we look forward to seeing you back in school on Monday 13 April.
Vince Burke
Headteacher
Eid Mubarak to all of our Muslim families
We hope that you had a Blessed Eid, apologies for our tardiness in sending best wishes!
Oscar Romero Award
Our school community is delighted to celebrate achieving the Participator Level of the Oscar Romero Award, recognising our strong commitment to living out Catholic Social Teaching in daily school life. This award highlights the dedication of our pupils, staff, and wider community to values such as justice, dignity, and solidarity.
To mark this special milestone, members of the School Council attended Mass at the Cathedral today, where they joined Archbishop John Wilson in celebration. It was a meaningful opportunity for our pupils to reflect on their role as active participants in creating a more just and compassionate world.
We are incredibly proud of this achievement, which affirms the positive impact of our collective efforts. As we look ahead, we remain committed to deepening our understanding and practice of Catholic Social Teaching across all aspects of school life and our work towards Developer level of the award.
Many thanks to Emma Scripps, Assistant Head for leading our work in this area.
We saw Father Rob, our previous Parish Priest, he is looking well and concelebrated Mass today, he send his love and best wishes to everyone. It was lovely to see him so settled into Cathedral life.
We are joined in the photo above by Michael Feely, CEO and Colette Doran-Hannon, Diocesan Schools Commissioner.
Sports Day 2026
School will be open for Nursery and Reception children only on that day, siblings from these classes are welcome to attend Sports day with their parents.
Please remember that your child should:
- be in PE kit with a house colour shirt and a baseball cap
- have a bag with a water bottle and sun cream
- have a packed lunch unless you have ordered one from the school (no nuts as always!)
We do not mind some tribal face paint in house colours etc, it's a fun day!
Please join us for the picnic in the middle of the day, bring lunch with you, your child may join you, however children must not leave the venue or go upstairs into the cafe.
Adults will be issued with a security bracelet which will be checked at the entry gate.
We will have lots more information nearer the time but thought some initial information now will help parents to organise their schedules!
PTA Annual General Meeting
The PTA have their Annual General Meeting on Friday 17th April at 9am. Please drop your child(ren) off and come around to the library for the meeting.
Many of our existing core committee members leave us this year as their children are in Year 6.
Please have a look at the document below which outlines the different roles available on the PTA, it would be great to have some volunteers to support their vital work in school.
