Student Support Services
Thank you to all of the families and students who have made going to school a priority. Missing school impacts the learning of Reading and Math, the ability to build positive relationships, and the development of good attendance habits. Every day is very important!
Congratulations to Grayson Elementary for earning the District Attendance Trophy with a 94.44% attendance rate for November!!! Apricot Valley was 2nd with 94.37% and Patterson High School was in 3rd with 94.23%. Northmead Elementary earned it two months in a row: September and October. All schools also improved on tardies compared to October. Overall, all our schools did a fantastic job for November in comparison to last year. They are focusing on these next two weeks and improving December attendance compared to last year. Also, schools are currently promoting the second Attendance Campaign by the District and District Liaisons for January and February to improve attendance as we return from the holidays.
For January and February, we are recognizing students who are at school daily, on time, and stay the entire day:
Elementary Schools
There will be weekly recognition for classes
At the end of the month, there will be a chance to win bigger prizes
Secondary Schools
Biweekly classroom recognitions
Students are randomly chosen biweekly
End of the month lucky winner: bigger prize

Professional Learning in PJUSD!
PJUSD is committed to ensuring our teachers, staff and administrators receive high-quality professional development and coaching aligned with our District’s Strategic Plan so that all our students receive high-quality instruction thus making a positive impact on their learning. PJUSD hired a Coordinator of Curriculum and Instruction along with instructional coaches who design and deliver professional development and also provide coaching and support for our teachers, staff and administrators. Recent professional development included non fiction writing, how to utilize grade level content standards to develop student-centered learning goals, and, for administrators, how to support teachers and staff by providing effective feedback and coaching. Additionally, teams of teachers have been participating in coaching and professional development working in teams known as professional learning communities. By investing and developing our staff, PJUSD is living up to our PJUSD Promise of unlocking potential and empowering lives.
