Message from Mrs. Williams
CCI Families,
Our Rangers have been busy! To start the school year, students learned about the difference between their reading voice and their thinking voice—ask your child to explain it to you!
Looking for a way your child can stay engaged over the weekend? Here’s a fun challenge: have your child read a picture book out loud, video it, and email it to Mrs. Williams. Students who participate will earn $10 in Ranger Bucks per video/book, and their recordings will help create a library of audio books for our younger Rangers to enjoy.
💚 Let’s Stay Connected! 💛
Strong communication makes us stronger together! We are so grateful for the partnership between our families and school. Our teachers are dedicated to supporting your children each day, and we want you to always feel comfortable reaching out when you have questions or concerns.
For questions or communication with your child’s teacher, please use ParentSquare. To help us respect our teachers’ personal time, please do not contact teachers through personal phone numbers, text messages, Facebook/Messenger, or other social media. Messages sent outside of school hours will be answered during the next school day unless it is an emergency.
📧 Important Transportation & Attendance Reminder:
If you are communicating about transportation or attendance, please email Holli Land at holli.land@sedubois.k12.in.us AND your child’s homeroom teacher. This helps ensure that both the office and your child’s teacher receive the information they need.

⚠️School Safety: Upcoming ALICE Drill
Southeast Dubois schools utilize the ALICE safety protocol to keep our schools safe. ALICE stands for Alert, Lockdown, Inform, Counter, and Evacuate. Unlike traditional "hide-in-place" methods, ALICE teaches staff and students flexible, age-appropriate skills to make real-time decisions—like safely evacuating the building or lockdown and barricading a classroom door.
On Friday, August 28, our school will hold an ALICE drill. Before the drill, we will teach your children exactly what to expect and how to be prepared. While all SED students have participated in this drill for the last three years, we know these topics can still bring up questions. We encourage you to talk through these safety steps at home as well to help your child feel secure and ready.
🏫 Stay Informed About Southeast Dubois

📊 NEW: Indiana School Accountability Website
The Indiana Department of Education has launched a redesigned A–F School Accountability website! This new resource provides families with easier access to information about school performance and accountability across the state.
We encourage families to explore the website and learn more about how Indiana schools are measured and supported.
🧪 Science Lab Fees Due August 28
Our 5th and 6th grade students will be participating in hands-on science labs throughout the school year. The 5th grade science lab fee is $5.75, and the 6th grade science lab fee is $5.80. These fees help cover the cost of materials and supplies used during science experiments and lab activities.
Please make arrangements to pay your child’s science lab fee by Friday, August 28.
Payment may be made by cash, check, or online. Please note that online payments include a $3.00 transaction fee.
Thank you for helping us provide our students with engaging, hands-on science experiences! 🔬🧪

What does it mean to be a Ranger? 🌲💚
From our youngest learners in elementary school to our seniors walking across the graduation stage, being a Ranger is about setting high expectations, overcoming challenges, and standing together as one community.
In this video, take a look at the state of our schools—from upgraded classrooms and facilities to the hard work happening in our labs, athletic fields, and stages every day.
Our strength comes from the incredible support of our families, staff, alumni, and local community partners. Together, our future is bright! ✨
