One thing you can do during Christmas break

As parents, we all know the benefits of reading aloud to our children from the time they are born. Once your child begins to read on their own—even simple words and short books—another powerful activity is listening to them read aloud.

If you’re looking for something meaningful to do over break, have your child read to you. This helps build fluency and prosody, which is the ability to read smoothly and with expression. Some students feel more comfortable reading aloud than others, but practicing at home in a supportive setting helps build both skill and confidence.

Reading together also helps keep your child’s skills sharp during the two weeks away from school. It’s a small investment of time that can make a big difference!

Ms. McDowell's Class

6th grade’s final was a Country Research Project, finding out all kinds of things about their chosen country and being creative with their presentation. They presented to the class and made a food or drink item from their country as well. The food below is Rylee Strutton’s Pavlova cookies for New Zealand.

The Principal's Corner

Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays! 🎄✨

As we wrap up the first semester, we want to take a moment to thank our parents and families for your continued support and partnership. Your encouragement at home, communication with the school, and involvement in our events play a huge role in your child’s success. Because of you, great things are happening every day at our school.

We are incredibly proud of the hard work our students have shown this semester—academically, socially, and emotionally. Their growth, determination, and Lion Pride have truly shined, and that success would not be possible without the support system you provide.

As you enjoy this holiday season, we hope it is filled with joy, rest, laughter, and special time with family and friends. Thank you for being such an important part of our school community. We look forward to welcoming everyone back refreshed and ready for an exciting second semester.

Warm holiday wishes to you and your family.
