Baud's Blog
Thank you to everyone who came out for our Luau and Foam Party. It was so much fun celebrating together, and we are incredibly grateful for the support that helped us exceed our Fun Run goal. Our Washington Woods community is pretty special!
This week, we have several field trips and our fall parties before we head out for fall break. It’s sure to be a busy and exciting week at The Woods! We challenged the students to see if they can figure out our secret staff theme days. Each day, staff has an undercover spirit wear day!
If you volunteered for the class parties, we will start signing you in at 1:35 Friday afternoon. We will open the doors at 1:40 for the 1:45 parties!
Parent-Teacher Conferences Coming in November
Keep an eye out for information from your child’s teacher about signing up for parent-teacher conferences in November. This year, conferences will look a little different at Washington Woods. Rather than having a one-day open house, teachers will offer individual meeting times with each family. There will be different date and times offered.
Our goal is to connect with 100% of our parents and guardians to share how your child is doing academically, behaviorally, and socially. These conversations are an important opportunity to celebrate growth, talk through any areas where your child may need additional support, and work together to help every student continue to grow. We look forward to connecting with all of you!
A Couple of Important Reminders
🔐 October is Cybersecurity Awareness Month! Looking for a way to help your family stay safe online? Check out this free Cybersecurity resource from KnowBe4. It offers short, interactive lessons for kids, adults, and seniors. No registration is required, so there is no need to share personal information to access the lessons. It’s an easy way for the whole family to build good online safety habits!
📊 Student Assessment Results Coming This Week! Earlier this year, students participated in DIBELS and i-Ready assessments to help us better understand their literacy and math skills. These assessments give us helpful information about what students know and where they may need additional support as they continue to grow. Look for your child’s results coming home at the end of this week. If you have questions, please reach out to your child’s teacher or Mrs. Agee at agees@wws.k12.in.us.
3rd, 4th, and 5th graders: Student council applications are available on the Trail Blazer board, and are due by the end of this week.
Thank you for being such an important part of our Washington Woods family. Have a wonderful week, enjoy the fall festivities, and make some special memories before we head into fall break! There will be no school the week of October 19-23.

Arrival, Dismissal & Parking Lot Reminders
Fast Lane
Fast Lane is going well so far!
- Family members picking up your children need to be added as a View Only Parent for the dates they are picking up. They will be able to access the app and scan the QR code.
- Please remember, you need to have the app open when we come by with the QR code. You are scanning from the app.
Clubs - Important Info!
Week one of clubs was a success! Thank you to the families that got the exceptions in through School Dismissal Manager. Please make sure you continue to put the changes in. This helps ensure they are dismissed to their club as planned. If an Exception is not entered, your child will be dismissed according to their usual dismissal plan. Thank you for helping us make dismissal run smoothly!
Attendance Matters!
Attendance Procedure
Please use our new School Dismissal Manager app to enter absences, late arrivals, and early dismissals. When you use the SDM app to enter your absence, please include the reason. Once the absence is entered in the SDM app, you will not need to email or call the attendance line.
Monitoring Attendance
Please refer to the Elementary School Handbook on the District Webpage for details of attendance policies.
We will be monitoring attendance this year. Students who have missed five, nine, and/or fifteen total days or more during the school term will be informed in writing. As this is cumulative throughout the year and not within one single grading period, this may not require further action unless otherwise indicated.
We are also reaching out to families who have students who are tardy to school more than 5 times.
We want to partner proactively with families this year to assure our students are at school as much as possible! Please let us know if you need support in any way.
Make Your Voice Heard — Register to Vote
Voting is one of the most important ways we participate in our community and our democracy. As a school district, we believe in preparing students to be engaged, informed citizens, and we encourage every eligible member of our community to exercise that same civic responsibility.
The deadline to register to vote in Indiana for the November 3 General Election is October 5, 2026.
Whether you need to register, update your registration, or simply check your voter registration status, visit IndianaVoters.in.gov.
Be informed. Be engaged. Make your voice heard.
