📝 Principal's Corner
Straight from the Top!
We are already nearing the halfway point of the semester, and our students are diving into more challenging concepts and new topics. As learning becomes more rigorous, I encourage you to be diligent in supporting your child with any struggles they may face and to reach out to their teacher for guidance.
Recently, parents were invited to a Parent Night where benchmark results were shared, along with activities to support learning at home across multiple subject areas. If you were unable to attend, please don’t hesitate to connect with your child’s teacher to review their progress and discuss strategies for continued growth.
As many of you have noticed, the way concepts are taught has shifted from memorization to building conceptual understanding and connecting skills to real-world applications. While this may look different from how you were taught, research shows that students develop deeper understanding and long-term success when they know how and why a concept works.
Together, with your involvement and our dedicated teachers, we can ensure your child continues to grow and thrive academically. Thank you for partnering with us in your child’s education!

💙 SWPREP Core Value of the Month
Character
Student Focus:
"I show good character by being honest, respectful, and responsible—even when no one is watching."
Why it matters:
Character is the foundation of trust and leadership. When we act with integrity and make choices that reflect our values, we strengthen our school, our families, and our community. Strong character helps us stand firm in challenges and build relationships based on respect.
Real-World Reward:
Living with character prepares you to be a leader others can count on. Employers, colleges, and communities look for people who are dependable and do the right thing. Good character sets you apart, earns respect, and opens doors for future opportunities.
💛 Capturing Kids Hearts Core Value of the Month
October Character Focus: Self-Direction
This month, students are learning about Self-Direction — leading yourself to who you want to be. Self-direction means doing the right thing, even when no one is watching.
Why it matters for your child:
Helps them set and reach personal goals.
Teaches them to take responsibility for their choices.
Strengthens friendships and social skills.
Builds self-control and the ability to manage emotions.
💡 Try this at home: Ask your child, “What is one goal you’re working on, and what’s your plan to reach it?”
Together, we can help students grow into responsible leaders who take charge of their own success.

Parent Rights & Health-Care Forms - MUST BE TURNED IN BY OCTOBER 3
Parents, please return your Parental Rights Regarding Health-Care and Health-Related Services form as soon as possible. These forms were sent home with your child, and extra copies are available in the school office.
⚠️ Important: The form has two sections with different instructions:
-
Health-Related Services (such as first aid, counseling, screenings): Initial if you want to opt out of a service.
-
Health-Care Services (such as medical treatment, procedures, or medication with a doctor’s order): Initial if you want to opt in and allow these services.
Please read each section carefully before completing.
📌 The forms are due to the school by October 3rd.
If you have any questions, please contact your school’s front office.

🎓 Parent University: Every Step
Together Against Bullying
Bullying is one of the most common challenges students face—and it can deeply affect their confidence, relationships, and success in school. As parents, you play a powerful role in helping your child feel safe, respected, and supported.
This month’s Parent University PSA highlights ways to recognize the signs of bullying, open conversations with your child, and partner with the school to take action. You’ll also learn strategies to build resilience and teach your child the importance of kindness and respect.
Together, we can create a culture where every child feels valued and empowered to thrive.

📢 Special News & Announcements
Fentanyl Poisoning Awareness
We want to make families aware of a growing threat to youth across Texas — Fentanyl, a man-made narcotic that has tragically led to a sharp increase in teen overdoses. Even the smallest amount can be deadly, and it is often hidden in counterfeit pills or made to look like candy.
What parents can do:
Talk openly with your teen about the risks.
Monitor social media and online activity.
Encourage involvement in healthy activities.
Watch for changes in behavior or friend groups.
Use the district’s anonymous reporting tool to share concerns.
Seek help early if you suspect your child may be struggling.
Together, we can protect our children and keep dangerous drugs out of our schools and community.

🌟 Teacher Spotlight
Ms. Angela Argullin
Mrs. Angela Argullin joined our Eagle family last school year as a 4th grade teacher and this year gladly stepped up to 5th grade, taking on two classes with a smile. She has truly handled the challenge like a champ and continues to bring positivity, dedication, and spirit to our campus every day.
Her peers nominated her as Teacher of the Month for August, sharing:
-
“Ms. A always works hard to ensure her students succeed. She has a great attitude and shows so much school spirit!”
-
“She never backs down from a challenge and always has a smile on her face.”
-
“She not only lifts up her students, but also boosts her fellow teachers.”
We are so thankful for Mrs. Argullin’s hard work, her commitment to our students, and the joy she brings to our Eagle community.
📊 Chalk Talk - We Want to Hear from You!
What was your child’s biggest highlight this 1st nine weeks?
🐸 From the Pond - PreK Peek
What our PreK friends are diving into this month—and how you can support their learning at home.
In October, our Pre-K students will explore the theme “My Family and Friends.” Each week will highlight a special part of children’s lives:
- Week 1: Immediate Family (learning about siblings and family roles)
- Week 2: Relatives (grandparents, aunts, uncles, cousins)
- Week 3: Pets (how animals can be part of the family)
- Week 4: Community (neighbors and helpers who support us)
Students will practice skills like sorting, classifying, and using position words (over, under, beside) to describe objects. They’ll also enjoy fun read-alouds, calming breathing exercises, and activities that celebrate the unique ways families and communities support one another.
Try This at Home: Try simple games like finding items by color, talking about family members, or going on a neighborhood “community helper” walk. These small activities help your child build vocabulary, social skills, and math readiness.
