From the Desk of Mrs. Debra Cunico

I would like to formally welcome all of our students and families as we begin the 2025-26 school year at Marian Central Catholic! It was so much fun to meet with all of our new students and parents at the “New Student Picnic” last week Wednesday too! Even the quick bit of rain didn’t stop our enthusiasm! I am looking forward to seeing that continue throughout the school year!

The past week and a half have been fantastic, as we welcomed in the Class of 2029 and the new transfer and international students, as well as seeing all of our returning students reconnecting with their friends and teachers in the halls again!

The entire faculty, new and returning, are ready for a great school year. To prepare, our faculty participated in two full inservice days August 11 & 12, focusing on collaboration, data analysis, policies and procedures, Catholic Identity, and school goals. All academic departments are dedicated to updating and improving the quality of instruction and student engagement in order to ensure that the education that we deliver is of high quality and rigor. More specifically, our teachers continue to develop lessons that provide students with a variety of approaches to their learning so that students construct their own knowledge, develop critical thinking skills, and become real world problem solvers.

In order to ensure that your student has a successful year here at Marian, here are a couple pieces of valuable information! By now, all parents/guardians should have received an email instructing how you can log into the Parent Portal. When you log in you will find that you have real-time access to your students’ grades and attendance records. If you have concerns or questions about grades or any other classroom issue, please always go to the teacher first, as they have the most direct knowledge about what is going on in the classroom and their specific classroom policies and procedures. You can find teacher contact information and webpages on the Marian website at www.marian.com. Students who find themselves struggling in any classes have several resources to assist them. These include utilizing their teachers’ Google Classroom or Teams platform, reaching out to and working with teachers during Advisory periods, or signing up for NHS tutors through the Guidance office. The Guidance Counselors, the Academic Resource Department, Father Warren, and the entire administrative team are also there to assist students with any issues! We are proud to work as a team to provide your students with what they need to succeed socially, emotionally, spiritually, and academically.

In addition, all of our students should now have a school-issued HP Laptop for use in and out of school for educational purposes. This allows the students to access their teachers’ platforms for communicating information and assignments, complete & submit work online, access the grade portal to monitor their own progress, as well as email teachers for assistance if need be. Here are some simple steps for successful use of these devices that parents can reinforce at home…

  • Always charge the computer overnight
  • Restart the computer before school so it remains updated
  • Keep food and drink away from the computer
  • Keep the computer in a safe place when not using it

Students who start to build a routine around the care and use of their computer find that they are less apt to be unprepared when they come to school, and therefore more successful overall.

* If your child has not yet received their device, please make sure that you and the student have submitted a signed Acceptable Use Policy to the main office. Once that has been received, your student will receive their device.

Finally, a quick reminder that our Back to School Night will be on Wednesday, August 27. Our faculty and staff are eager to meet all of the parents and share what awesome things your students will be doing in their classes.

As I said earlier, I am very excited for this school year, stepping into the classrooms to see students grow and learn, and become the self-sufficient individuals we all know they can be! Please know that my door is always open for your students and all of you.

Prayers for an amazing school year!

Demographic/Emergency Information Update

By now, one parent/guardian for each student should have received an emailed electronic form requesting confirmation/updating of emergency and demographic information. Concession Help - Junior & Senior Families

Junior and Senior Students and Parents:

This football season, we need everyone’s help to make our school events a success! Each junior and senior student is required to work one shift in the concession stand at a home football game. All proceeds from these shifts go directly toward funding school dances and special events throughout the year. As a thank-you, any student who completes their shift will receive half off the price of their prom ticket. Your support not only helps keep our traditions alive but also makes them even more memorable!

Please click here to sign up for a shift in the concession stand.

All students on the football, dance and cheerleading teams will need to coordinate an alternative volunteer opportunity with Mr. Winkelman or Mr. Williams if they wish to receive a discounted prom ticket.

Summer Volunteer Hours - Due September 5th

Students who completed volunteer hours over the summer are asked to submit the Outside Service Volunteer Form. This form is available in the Guidance Office and on our website. All summer volunteer hours should be reported to Mrs. Diamond in Guidance by Friday, September 5th.

Senior Portraits - September 30th

SAVE THE DATE: Senior portraits will be taken at Marian on Tuesday, September 30th during the school day.

All seniors will be photographed individually in both dress clothes and a cap and gown, and all members of the class will pose for a group photo together at the end of the day.

Attire guidelines and a detailed schedule will be shared later.
