Where to start looking for activities and events for your Manville student?

Greater Massachusetts Special-Needs Events shares conferences, workshops, speaker events, accessible and adaptive recreation programs serving the Greater Massachusetts’ communities.

  • Every other Thursday, there's a newsletter
  • The website has more listings

Exceptional Lives provides tools, information, support, and resources for families of children with disabilities in Massachusetts. They walk users through disability-related systems and processes in language that makes sense.

  • Look for the MA resource hub to find resources in your area here (English/Spanish)
  • Look for Hub tools that offer guidance around several topics including transition planning and SSI/other benefits.

Other ideas

  • Connect with people in your town's Special Education Parent Advisory Council (SEPAC). By law, your town will have a SEPAC.
  • Tips from other Manville families:
    • Talk with your town's recreation director.
    • Talk with people who've worked with your child.
    • Learn more about programming in nearby towns, especially programs like YMCAs and Boys and Girls Clubs.
    • Consider programming specific to children with special needs. (Ex: Fast Feet through Franciscan Hospital.)
    • Ask in social media groups that support families.
Please send Ellen and Kim your trusted resources.
