Dear Students, Staff and Families,

Hopefully everyone is settling into the year and is excited about the new topics and ideas they will be studying this year. I am looking forward to our middle school and high school students returning with their classes to the Media Center within the next few weeks.

If you still have library books from last year, please return them as quickly as possible.

HTHS and RMS students are reminded they may use the Media Center, but must have a reservation. Reservations must be placed before 8:00 AM on the day the student wishes to use the Media Center. The reservation form is found here.

Have a great week and don't hesitate to reach out with any questions.

Take Care,

Mrs. Amanda Tagmire, library media specialist for the Haddon Township School District

Best Friends (Real Friends #2), by Shannon Hale & LeUyen Pham

Graphic Novel

MIddle Grades Fiction

Shannon is sure sixth-grade will be her best year yet. She has a spot in The Group, the inner-circle of popular girls. The Group's beautiful and envied leader, Jen, happens to be her best friend. Unfortunately, the middle school rules of what is cool and what is not always seem to be changing, and Shannon just can't keep up. Is she brave enough to ignore the rules and find her own way?

The sequel to the New York Times bestseller Real Friends, this graphic novel is sure to appeal to many middle grades readers. Told with heart, determination and a strong dose of reality, Best Friends illustrates the social struggles of adolescence. Readers may wish to read the first book in the series before diving into this book. Recommended!

Using Destiny Discover

The catalog of books for the Media Center is online. Follow this link to view the catalog. Students will be receiving instruction in their English/Language Arts classes on how to log-in, place holds on books, and download e-books during the month of October. This is a review for the majority of the students.

Students who already are comfortable with using the catalog and placing holds are welcome to use their individual log-ins to begin placing holds immediately. I will email students when their holds are ready to be picked up. Any student who is need of a reminder of their username/password combination is welcome to reach out to me. I will reply with the information as quickly as possible.

Happy reading!
