WalkerElementary Wildcat Corner April 2026

Dear Families,

It is hard to believe that we are already in April. As we enter the final stretch of the school year, we are excited about the growth our students have made and look forward to finishing strong together.

April is also a month of STAAR testing for our 3rd, 4th and 5th graders. Please ensure they are on time to school (7:50 am - drop off starts), nutritious breakfast, and provided a restful evening with a positive morning send off. We are confident in our students and know they are ready to do their best!

April 8th - 3rd-5th grade Reading STAAR

April 15th - 5th grade Science STAAR

April 22nd - 3rd-5th grade Math STAAR

We have several exciting events planned as we close out the school year. Please make sure to look at the upcoming events section to help you plan ahead. The last weeks of school are incredibly important. We encourage students to stay focused, continue practicing good habits, and maintain strong attendance. Every day counts as we wrap up new learning and celebrate accomplishments.

Thank you for your continued support throughout the school year. We are proud of our students and grateful for our wonderful school community.

Street Safety Tips:

Street Safety Tips:

  1. Always Use Crosswalks: Choose the safest path. Cross at designated crosswalks or intersections. It's the safest way to get across the street.
  2. Look Left, Right, and Left Again: Before crossing, stop and look both ways to ensure no cars are approaching.
  3. Wait for the Walk Signal: If there is a traffic light or pedestrian signal, wait for the "walk" sign before crossing.
  4. Make Eye Contact with Drivers: Make sure that drivers see you before crossing in front of a car.
  5. Avoid Distractions: When crossing the street, do not use phones, headphones, or other items that can distract you. Stay alert and focused.
  6. Be Aware of Turning Vehicles: Even when the light is green, look out for cars turning the corner or making unexpected moves.
  7. Walk, Don’t Run: Walk, don’t run, across the street to avoid tripping or not noticing oncoming traffic.
