Superintendent's Update - 6.5.2026
Dear CPS Community,
I hope you all had a wonderful week and were able to get out and enjoy the beautiful weather!
This past week was full of events, especially for Chelmsford High School seniors. They were celebrated during clap outs at their elementary schools, and attended several events including prom, the after-prom party, senior banquet and graduation practice leading up to tomorrow’s main event. High school graduation day is a momentous occasion, eagerly anticipated by students, teachers and families alike. There is a mix of excitement and a hint of nostalgia as seniors don their caps and gowns, their hearts filled with both triumph and bittersweet memories. The Commencement Exercises will take place on Saturday, June 6, at the Tsongas Center in Lowell at 4:00 p.m. If you are interested in watching this year’s graduation, it will be livestreamed by Chelmsford Telemedia.
Next Wednesday, June 10, will be our next community forum related to the Parker School Building Project. It will be held at 7:00 p.m. at the Chelmsford Senior Center, 75 Groton Road; please make note of the change in venue. This will be our last public forum until the fall, so if you have any questions or thoughts about the project, I urge you to attend. I know this a very busy time of the year for many families, so if you have scheduling conflicts, the event will be recorded by Chelmsford Telemedia and shared online. For more information about the project, visit parkermsproject.com.
June is widely recognized as Pride Month, which is dedicated to celebrating and supporting the LGBTQIA+ community. Pride Month is observed in many countries around the world and is marked by various events, parades, festivals, and activities that promote equality, diversity, and inclusivity. It is also an opportunity for people to come together, raise awareness about the issues faced by the LGBTQIA+ community, and celebrate the progress that has been made towards equality. Chelmsford Public Schools is committed to ensuring equality and inclusion of all students and families.
We are currently surveying all Chelmsford Public Schools families in order to gain insight into your perception of our school and district's effectiveness. We also want to better understand barriers to families accessing our schools and programs. To ensure we continue to provide high quality, rigorous learning experiences that meet the needs of our learners and prepare them for college and career, we need your feedback. We want to know what you think. You may complete the survey online between now and Friday, June 12, using a computer, tablet or smartphone by visiting this website.
Congratulations to the students and families of the CHS Class of 2026! I look forward to celebrating with you tomorrow at your ceremony. Enjoy this week’s highlights and have a great weekend!
Yours truly,
Jay Lang, Ed.D.

Please Take Our Survey
Dear Chelmsford Families,
Our district values your feedback! We are currently surveying The Chelmsford Public Schools families in order to gain insight into your perception of our school and district's effectiveness. We also want to better understand barriers to families accessing our schools and programs. To ensure we continue to provide high quality, rigorous learning experiences that meet the needs of our learners and prepare them for college and career, we need your feedback. We want to know what you think.
To administer these surveys, we have partnered with Panorama Education to conduct our 2026 Family Survey as we did in 2023, 2024, 2025 as well. Panorama safeguards your privacy, keeping your responses anonymous. The survey shouldn’t take more than a few minutes to complete and will be a valuable source of information for us as we work to make our schools and district as good as they can be.
You may complete the survey online between now and Friday, June 12, using a computer, tablet or smartphone by visiting this website: https://surveys.panoramaed.com/chelmsfordma/family26/surveys
If you have multiple CPS school-aged children, please feel free to fill out multiple surveys to represent each individual child’s experience. The first question on the survey will be a dropdown to select which school you are filling the survey out for.
We thank you in advance for your thoughtful responses. If you have any questions about the survey administration, please don’t hesitate to contact your building Principal.
Thank you in advance for your time.

Civics Learning Panels at CHS
Juniors at CHS recently had the opportunity to engage with local town leaders and their State Representative through three Civics Learning Panels, connecting their civics projects to the real world of local and state government.
During the panels, students explored the roles and responsibilities of local officials and gained firsthand insight into the issues that shape our communities. Conversations covered a wide range of topics including community supports, housing, taxes, roadways and sidewalks, tuition, student loans, and affordability. These issues are both timely and directly relevant to students' lives.

Junior Book Awards are prestigious honors presented to high-achieving students who are preparing to enter their senior year of high school. They are granted by alumni associations and universities to recognize top-ranking students who demonstrate academic excellence, community service, leadership and strong character.
Colleges use these awards to build early connections with promising students. While receiving an award does not guarantee college admission, it highlights a student's well-rounded achievements and looks highly favorable on college applications.

The Sun: Thrilling win lifts Chelmsford High into girls lacrosse state semifinals
Leading by two goals and just over nine minutes to play, the momentum was slowly being drawn away from Chelmsford.
The Lions were called for their second penalty, and on the other side was Tara Battaglino, the 6-foot-2 offensive force for Wellesley.
Instead of letting Battaglino – who is headed to play at Brown University – take over during crunch time and possibly end Chelmsford’s season, the Lions relied on their lockdown defense, spearheaded by goalie Eloise Sosnowski.
The junior made three sensational saves – two off the stick of Battaglino – and the Lions didn’t allow a goal in the final 10:40 of the fourth quarter, which was enough for the No. 2 seed to come away with a thrilling 7-6 victory over the seventh seed in a Division 1 state quarterfinal girls lacrosse game Thursday night at Simonian Stadium.

Chelmsford High School Earns Early College Designation
Chelmsford Public Schools is proud to announce that Chelmsford High School has earned the Early College Designation from the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, effective Fall 2026. This designation gives students the opportunity to earn transferable college credits at no cost to families while still in high school, helping them build college experience and reduce the long-term cost of higher education.
Through a partnership with Middlesex Community College, Chelmsford High School will offer four Early College pathways: Liberal Arts, Education, Health Science, and Criminal Justice. Students accepted into a pathway will complete a minimum of 12 college credits within their chosen field of study.
The Early College program provides a structured, interest-aligned academic pathway that builds the skills and confidence students need for postsecondary success. It complements but is separate from our existing programs: Innovation Pathways (Business, Information Technology, Life Science, and Manufacturing Technologies) and our extensive Concurrent Enrollment offerings (formerly referred to as Dual Enrollment). Together, these programs reflect Chelmsford High School's commitment to expanding access to high-quality educational opportunities and preparing every student for life after graduation.
Details about application requirements and the acceptance process will be released in the coming weeks. Students and families should watch for emails this summer containing program details and eligibility requirements, informational webinar and in-person session dates, and a timeline for the application process.
We look forward to welcoming our first cohort of Early College students in Fall 2026.
