Headteacher's Bulletin

Highlights of the week
Mr Lisseman - Headteacher
Dear Parents & Carers,
This week has offered many reminders of what makes Twickenham School such a vibrant place to learn and grow. Across classrooms, assemblies and events, students have been taking part in experiences that stretch their thinking, strengthen their confidence and deepen their sense of community.
This week we have been celebrating Science Week, with a series of fascinating assemblies led by Dr Cooke. Students particularly enjoyed seeing volunteers take part in demonstrations, including forming human electrical circuits to show how electricity flows. It was a memorable and hands-on way to bring scientific concepts to life.
It has also been wonderful to welcome many Year 6 families who will be joining us as Year 7 students next September. We hosted two open mornings this week, and with the help of our brilliant Year 7 Ambassadors leading tours, it was fantastic to see so many prospective students getting a feel for life at Twickenham School.
Our Year 9 students attended their Options Evening, where they had the opportunity to learn more about the subjects available at Key Stage 4. The evening provided valuable guidance as students begin to think carefully about their GCSE choices and the subjects that best suit their interests and ambitions. They also took part in an important knife crime prevention workshop, which encouraged thoughtful discussion and raised awareness about personal safety and decision-making.
Sport has also been a highlight this week, with our Sports Leaders hosting an excellent borough wide primary basketball event. They did a fantastic job organising and supporting the younger pupils, demonstrating real leadership and enthusiasm throughout the day.
Looking ahead, we are pleased to announce that House Captains have now been chosen for next year, and we are excited to begin the process of interviewing candidates for our Head Boy and Head Girl positions. Student leadership plays a vital role in our school community, and we look forward to seeing the next group of leaders step forward.
And finally, I would like to wish all the wonderful mum's and carers in our community a very happy Mother’s Day this Sunday. Thank you for the care, commitment and support you give to your children and to our school community.
Student Bulletin
Each Monday morning in tutor time, students and their form tutors review the weekly student bulletin. This is a round up of all the important information, notices and reminders that they need to know. The bulletin is also posted on the screens around school so they can refer back to it at any time.
Year 9 and 10 Production - We Are Displaced
Next week, our Year 9 and 10 students will be performing their powerful new production, We Are Displaced — a show written by the students themselves.
Inspired by the story of Malala Yousafzai and the experiences of refugees around the world, the performance explores themes of resilience, identity and hope through student-created storytelling and theatre.
