As we wrap up another wonderful school year at Powell Butte Elementary, we want to thank our families for your partnership, support, and trust. It has been a year full of growth, learning, and meaningful connections, and we are so proud of all our students and staff have accomplished.

We hope your family has a safe, relaxing, and fun-filled summer. Whether you’re traveling, spending time outdoors, or simply enjoying a slower pace, we encourage everyone to take time to rest and recharge.

We are already looking forward to welcoming our Coyotes back in the fall and beginning another great year together. Until then, have a fantastic summer!

Continuing Learning into Summer:

Summer is a wonderful time for rest, play, and making memories, but it’s also important for students to keep their minds active! Families can help prevent the “summer slide” by building simple learning opportunities into everyday routines.

Encourage your child to read daily, whether it’s books, magazines, or even following a recipe. Writing can be fun too. Try keeping a journal, writing letters, or creating stories about summer adventures. Math practice can happen naturally through cooking, shopping, or playing games that involve counting, measuring, and problem-solving.

Exploring the outdoors, visiting local libraries, museums, or parks, and asking questions about the world around them are all great ways to keep learning alive. Even small, consistent activities can make a big difference in helping students return to school confident and ready to learn.

Thank you for partnering with us to support your child’s learning all year long!

Attendance: Attendance:

Attendance Goal:

ALL STUDENTS: By the end of the 2025-2026 school year, 72% of students will be regular attenders, as measured by Synergy data.

Social Emotional Learning (S.E.L.) and Belonging: Social Emotional Learning (S.E.L.) and Belonging:

S.E.L. and Belonging Goal:

ALL STUDENTS: By the end of the 2025-2026 school year, all students will show a positive increase of sense of belonging by 5%, as measured by the student perception survey, comparing the spring 2025 survey results to spring 2026.

Summer Routine:

As summer begins, we know routines naturally shift, but maintaining some consistency can make a big difference for children. Regular sleep schedules, consistent meal times, and a predictable daily structure help students feel secure and support their overall well-being. Routines also make the transition back to school in the fall much smoother.

Even simple habits like setting aside time each day for reading, outdoor play, and family connection can help keep kids engaged and balanced throughout the summer months. A little structure goes a long way in helping children stay confident, healthy, and ready to learn when we welcome them back to school.

SE 174th Avenue Sidewalk Project:

We’re excited to share that the SE 174th Avenue Sidewalk Project is in the works, bringing important safety and accessibility improvements to our neighborhood! This project will focus on the west side of SE 174th Avenue between SE Kelly and SE Francis Streets, right near Powell Butte Elementary and Centennial High School.

Planning and community outreach will take place throughout 2026, with construction expected to begin in 2027.

The completed project will include:

  • New sidewalk space for safer walking and biking
  • Three new pedestrian crossings
  • Improved street lighting
  • New street trees and stormwater systems

These upgrades are designed to make it safer and easier for students, families, and community members to travel through the area, whether walking, biking, or commuting.

We’ll continue to share updates as the project moves forward. Stay tuned for opportunities to provide input during the design phase!
