SACRAMENT OF RECONCILIATION
Our Year Three students celebrated a special milestone in their faith journey earlier this week, with the Sacrament of Reconciliation. I thank Krystle Neal and Anna Tran (Year Three Teachers) for preparing our students, as well as Dee Campbell (Assistant Principal) for her support and leadership. I also thank Fr Rodrigo (Parish Priest) and Fr Felipe (Assistant Priest).
Our Year Three students reached an important milestone in their faith journey earlier this week as they celebrated the Sacrament of Reconciliation for the first time. This is a significant step for our students, as it invites them to reflect on their actions, experience God’s mercy, and deepen their understanding of forgiveness and making things right in their relationships with others. Through this sacrament, they begin to develop a lifelong appreciation of compassion, responsibility, and spiritual growth.
I extend my sincere thanks to Krystle Neal and Anna Tran (Year Three Teachers) for their thoughtful preparation of the students, and to Dee Campbell (Assistant Principal) for her ongoing support and leadership throughout the process.
I also acknowledge and thank Fr Rodrigo (Parish Priest) and Fr Felipe (Assistant Priest) for generously giving their time to guide our students through this sacred sacrament and for their continued pastoral care and commitment to nurturing the faith of our school community.
CHANGES TO ANNUAL COMMUNITY MEETINGS AND MEMBERSHIP APPOINTMENT PROCESSES
I wish to inform you of a change to the operation of Catholic School Advisory Councils (CSACs) and Parents and Friends Groups (P&Fs), following recent updates from Catholic Education Western Australia (CEWA).
As part of CEWA’s commitment to streamline practices, it has been determined that from 2026, Annual Community Meetings (ACMs) for CSACs and P&Fs will no longer be held. This change follows feedback regarding low attendance and participation throughout Western Australia, and stronger practices to promote community engagement, transparency and collaboration in Catholic schools.
What does this mean for our school community?
Rather than an ACM, the School will provide an Annual Community Report (ACR) to all families. This will include:
- Key updates on school strategies and activities
- The annual budget, including fee increases (for CSAC) and (if practicable) a summary of P&F financial activity
- Summary of the year’s events by the Principal, CSAC Chair and (if practicable) P&F President, and
- Announcement of election results for CSAC and P&F positions.
Information about the nomination and election or appointment process for CSAC and P&F Committee members will be delivered at the start of Term 4 each year. The process is outlined below:
- These elections or appointments for CSAC and P&F Committee members will be conducted by either:
1. Election at a School Meeting (P&F only) This option may only be used for P&F Committees, as all members of the school community are eligible to attend. This is to either take place at last meeting of 2026 or the first meeting of 2027.
2. Conducted via an electronic ballot (For CSAC and where appropriate for P&F)
- With clear nomination and voting periods.
- By principal appointment, if no nominations are received (with rationale provided).
- All vacancies, outcomes and the final composition of the CSAC and P&F Committee will be communicated to the school community.
Catholic school parents and community members have a significant role in our community. It is intended for these approaches to enhance participation and move to more contemporary practices to assure that we communicate core school information more broadly.

SACRAMENT OF RECONCILIATION
Congratulations to all the children who received the Sacrament of First Reconciliation last night. You were reverent and respectful going to confession. Reconciliation brings us closer to God. Thank you to Father Rodrigo and Father Felipe, the Year 3 Staff and the St Brigid’s Parish, and families for supporting our young people on their faith journey.

RAD REWARDS
CONGRATULATIONS to our Lunch With Leadership (LWL) winners in Week 2! These amazing children received an invitation to Lunch With Leadership (LWL) in Week 11.
On Friday this week we will have another draw at the Merit Assembly. Plenty more chances to win!
RAD REWARDS is all about focusing on rewarding students for displaying the school values and following school rules, using manners and showing random acts of kindness. RAD REWARDS is not about academic or sporting success, but your child may be recognised for showing perseverance, or resilience around subject matter.
RAD REWARDS is designed to provide the opportunity to encourage and reward ALL students to want to be the best they can be.
STAGE 1: RAFFLE TICKETS – Individual Reward
· Students can earn as many raffle tickets as possible throughout the term.
· Students write their NAME and CLASS on the raffle ticket and put it into the Raffle Ticket Box in the wet area for their year group.
· At each MERIT ASSEMBLY, ONE raffle ticket is drawn from each of the year group raffle ticket boxes, and that student is invited to Lunch With Leadership (LWL).
STAGE 2: TOKENS – Faction AND Whole School Reward (Coming Soon…..)
Staff will continue to hand out raffle tickets, and we will continue to draw one person from each year group to join Lunch With Leadership at merit assemblies.
- Students continue to earn raffle tickets AND will also receive a faction token.
- Faction Token Holders will be positioned outside the Library.
- The Faction with the most tokens at the end of each term will have 15mins extra play AND an icy pole (ONE day in the last week of term).
- School community will be updated at each Merit Assembly about how many tokens each faction has collected so far.
- Faction tokens will also be combined towards a whole school goal and reward at the end of the year.

WOW Week (Week of Wellbeing)
During WOW Week, held in Week 5 of each term, we focus on one of our school factions, learning more about their saint and the value they represent.
This term, our focus is on Joseph Faction and the value of Acceptance 💛
Throughout the week, our staff Wellbeing Team has thoughtfully prepared activities and experiences to support student wellbeing while helping children explore what acceptance looks like in everyday life including kindness, inclusion, understanding others, and celebrating differences.
At school, we know that children thrive when their wellbeing is supported both in the classroom and at home.
During WOW Week, families can help reinforce these important messages by:
• encouraging open conversations about feelings and friendships
• modelling kindness and acceptance at home
• spending quality time together
• supporting healthy routines such as sleep, nutrition, and downtime
• celebrating your child’s unique strengths and qualities
To conclude the week, students will be permitted to wear free dress on Friday of Week 5, with yellow as the main colour to represent Joseph Faction 💛
We look forward to celebrating this special week together!
Walk Safely to School
Students are encouraged to walk, ride or scoot to school, if possible, on Wednesday 20th of May. This helps reduce traffic, lowers pollution, promotes healthy habits and teaches students the importance of making environmentally friendly choices. Please remember that children under 10 must hold an adult’s hand when crossing the road.
Simultaneous Storytime
On Wednesday 27 May, our school will once again take part in National Simultaneous Storytime (NSS) — a wonderful Australia-wide event that celebrates reading and literacy.
At 11:00am (AWST), students and teachers across the country will come together to enjoy this year’s featured book, Luna Roo. This heartwarming story follows Luna, a playful and curious kangaroo, as she explores her world, builds friendships, and discovers the importance of belonging and courage.
Our students will take part in a shared reading of Luna Roo, followed by engaging classroom activities inspired by the story. It promises to be a fun and meaningful experience that sparks imagination and encourages a love of reading.
We encourage families to continue the enjoyment of reading at home by sharing favourite books and chatting about Luna’s adventures with your child.
📖 Why NSS matters:
- Promotes the joy of reading
- Encourages literacy development
- Connects children across Australia through stories
We look forward to another exciting and inspiring National Simultaneous Storytime!
