Stay tuned and thank you for being part of our Wildcat community!
Around the Halls
Huge thank you to the Clermont Chamber of Commerce for coordinating Speed Mentoring for our Juniors and Seniors today! We are so fortunate to have 20 business professionals in our building, working with our students and engaging them in high level career exposure and education!
Mrs. Cleaver’s ELA students have stepped into the role of safety researchers! They’re investigating the design and features of popular toys to understand what makes them safe for consumers.
This hands-on project helps students gather background information and data they’ll use to write an argumentative essay on toy safety standards and smart design choices. Ask your 6th grader which toy they’re analyzing and what potential safety hazards they’ve discovered!
Our Advanced Consumer Science students are diving into the world of fats (lipids) found in everyday foods. This week, they rolled up their sleeves for a hands-on lab, extracting oils from potato chips and cheese puffs to see just how much fat these snacks contain!
Students in CCP Chemistry are learning about Organic Functional Groups through a technique called vertical white boarding. Then they rotated in order to complete a gallery walk and gather information from each other.
Mrs. Futhey’s seventh graders held a mock trial based on the short stories “Lamb to the Slaughter” and “The Landlady” by Ronald Dahl. All our student attorneys did a fantastic job prosecuting or defending Mary Maloney and the landlady.
Students in Honors English 10 participated in an escape room to review the characters, themes, and literary elements found throughout The Crucible. Congratulations to the students who successfully escaped the hysteria!
Sophomores attended Grant Career Center last week to explore offered programs by visiting labs and speaking with current Grant students. Applications to enroll in a program for next school year are now open. Visit Grant's website to apply.
