Eagle News and Notes
October 2025
End of Quarter
Fall is upon us as is the end of the 1st Quarter. It is hard to believe that we only have a few weeks until the end of the quarter. I am not sure where the time is going! We have experienced some beautiful days and the start of the year, that is usually very hot in our building, has actually been pleasant. We are very thankful for that. It is much more conducive to a productive day.
As we approach all of the upcoming holidays, please make sure you are taking time as a family to do things together. Cherish the time with family and friends because time is precious.
Stay healthy, stay safe and enjoy your time as a family!

Toledo Museum of Art
Mrs. Speer (Elementary Art Teacher) and I (Mrs. Moorman, HS Art Teacher) not only teach art here at Eastwood, we also teach part-time at the Toledo Museum of Art. We wanted to share this information with you. The Museum’s fall studio classes are such a fun way to keep creating outside of school. They’re a great extension of what we do in our classrooms, and there are lots of scholarships available, many cover the full cost! We’d love to see our students benefit from these opportunities and keep that creative spark going all year.
The Toledo Museum of Art has a long history of nurturing young artists in our region. Its children’s programs have inspired generations, helping to shape the vibrant and creative community we enjoy today. This tradition of accessible, high-quality art education has enriched our local culture and continues to create a beautiful landscape of community and art for all to experience.
Here’s a message from our colleague Mrs. Lauren Geib, TMA Studio Programs Manager.
Hi,
I am writing to inform you that the Toledo Museum of Art Fall 2025 studio class registration is now open for youth, teens, and adults. These classes offer a unique opportunity to explore and enhance artistic skills in a vibrant and inspiring environment.
The Museum has scholarship opportunities available for youth and adult students, which cover 100% of the registration fee for most classes. If you are interested, please submit one Scholarship Application Form per class. You may apply for more than one scholarship if you have an interest in multiple classes. If applying, please don’t register for class in advance. We will register you if we are able to award you a scholarship. While we’d love to help everyone, we receive many applications, which makes scholarships competitive and unfortunately doesn’t guarantee automatic approval. : Learn | Toledo Museum of Art
We encourage all interested individuals to explore the diverse classes offered and take advantage of the scholarship opportunities provided by Toledo Museum of Art. If you have any questions or require further assistance, please do not hesitate to contact me: Lauren Geib, Studio Programs Manager
Thanks,
Lauren Geib

Free and Reduced Lunches/Fees
If you have applied or intend to apply for Free/Reduced Lunches, please note that Mrs. Eaton will be unable to adjust your school fees until after October 1. The only school fee that she is unable to waive is the $25 laptop fee and the fee for a parking pass (if it applies to your student). She also will not waive any fees incurred outside of the school fees such as supplies, lost books, laptops or uniforms, etc.
If you have any questions about this, please let us know.
Final Forms
If you and your student have already completed Final Forms, Thank you! If you have not, we need all students and parents to complete Final Forms as soon as possible. It will help us immensely to assure we have the best possible information. This is true for students that attend Penta as well as those who are here in the building. Also, Senior families, please make sure you complete the "Senior Diploma Form" using their full name as it appears on their birth certificate or a legal name change document (that we need to also have on file!).
Parking Permits
If you plan on having your student drive to school, please complete all necessary documents in Final Forms. The fee for the parking tag is $5.
Parking permits will be able to be purchased at any point during the school year , should your student begin driving later in the year, or acquires a car they can drive daily. They will be available in the office throughout the year. The fee will just have to be paid at the time the permit is purchased. The student will NOT be permitted to purchase a parking permit until the forms are completed in Final Forms by both parent and student. Please note that Deputy Cooper has been making a regular sweep of the parking lot to assure cars parked in our lots have tags, or are just there for a short time.
From the School Nurse!
With all the illness going around, and some of them keeping students out multiple days, please take a look at this and keep it in mind when debating about sending your student to school.

Senior Immunizations
Meningitis is an inflammation of the protective layer around the brain and spinal cord. This disease can be fatal or leave those who survive it with permanent disabilities. The meningococcal vaccine is the best way to avoid meningitis.
Section 3313.671 of the Ohio Revised Code states that students who do not provide documentation of this immunization are subject to exclusion from school.
If you have any questions or concerns regarding immunizations, please contact Dannelle Sutton, RN, School Nurse at dsutton@eastwoodschools.org or call the Ohio Department of Health Immunization Program hotline at 800-282-0546, or visit the ODH website.

Medication
Finals Forms has provided some confusion in regards to medication for our students. If your student will need to take medication at school, be it prescription or over the counter, you will need to print out the appropriate form on Final Forms, complete it and send it in to school. You will also need to provide a bottle of medication in its original container. We do not have medication (Tylenol, Advil, etc) to give to students.
If you have any questions, do not hesitate to call the office and speak to the secretaries.
Free and Reduced Applications
Fees - IMPORTANT REMINDER
This is a policy that is set by the board and the secretaries will be adhering to it. If you have a balance, please make arrangements to pay the fees via PaySchoolCentral with a credit card, or in the office with exact cash or a check.
If you would like a copy of the policy, please contact the office and Mrs. Eaton or Mrs. Brown will be happy to provide it to you.
For our families of Seniors: It is also part of board policy that Seniors will not be issued their diplomas until all fees are paid and community service is completed. If you need to set up a payment plan, it is suggested you do this early in the year to ease the burden in May. Please contact Mrs. Jody Eaton to do so at jeaton@eastwoodschools.org or call her at the office at 419-833-3611.
