Sunday Message
Good Evening Hamilton Families,
We have had another busy week at Hamilton. Students have been working hard and demonstrating the ROAR spirit and earning many paw slips. Hope you all had a great weekend after the rainy weather on Friday.
Dollars for Ellie - Spirit Day
Our students have been demonstrating the Helping Others initiative all month in addition to bringing in lots of coins. To take it to the next level, we will be recognizing our efforts by wearing pink on Wednesday, October 19, 2022. For a $1 donation, students can wear a hat throughout the school day as well.
School Picture Day
This Tuesday, October 18th is school picture day for all Hamilton students.
Afternoon Parking
As a reminder, if you will be using the playground while waiting for your child or staying past dismissal time for any reason, you need to be parking in the row closest to the swings. This is for the safety of all students as the other cars are released.
Chris McKenna- Eagle Scout project
Chris, a Weymouth student and former Hamilton student, is running a pet food drive for the South Shore Pet Food pantry as his Eagle Scout project. He will be placing a box in our lobby for pet food donations. If you would like to contribute, please have your child bring these donations in.
PTO Halloween Spooktacular

PAW Slips
Throughout the school day, students are being recognized for representing ROAR (Respect. Ownership. Achievement. Responsibility) by staff members when they are seen demonstrating these traits. Students are given a paw slip that explains what they were seen doing. This slip is given to the front office, and the student is given a sticker so the whole school community can see that a PAW was earned. Every Friday, random student PAW slips will be pulled so we can recognize students who have been ROARing across Hamilton. Be sure to ask your student how they are ROARing at home and school, particularly with our focus this month on helping others.
Youth Vaping Information Night
WPS, in collaboration with South Shore Hospital, is hosting a Vaping Information Night for Families of students grades 5-12. The event will be held on October 26, 2022, at Chapman Middle School from 6:00 - 7:30.
Attendance Counts
As the school year has started, we have been faced with periods of absences due to illnesses such as COVID and Influenza. We appreciate keeping your child home when sick, but we would like to reiterate how important attendance is so that your child can continue to make progress academically and socially. Please see this VERY IMPORTANT information regarding establishing a good attendance routine.
Repeated Information
Student Handbook & Acknowledgement Forms
As part of our return to school procedures, parents and guardians are to receive a digital copy of the school handbook & sign and return the acknowledgment page back to your child(ren)'s teacher.
Last Friday, we sent home a paper copy of the acknowledgment form with your child for your convenience. In addition to the different policies of the district, the form has special releases to showcase your child's work through our media sources as well as share contact information with our Parent Council.
Please review the handbook and send the form back to the Hamilton school as soon as possible.
Changes in Dismissal or Arrival
If you have to make a change in how your student is coming to or leaving school, please notify us in writing. All correspondence should be sent to Dawn Amaral and Beth Tevenan in the front office either through email at dawn.amaral@weymouthschools.org; beth.tevenan@weymouthschools.org (copy classroom teacher if you would like) or a written note.
You can notify the classroom teacher, but they may not relay the information in time. We cannot make changes from phone calls unless there are immediate unforeseen circumstances that would require a temporary change. This procedure is in place for the safety of our students. If there are changes with Champions, you must also notify us in the front office as well as Champions. This also holds true for any early dismissals.
MCAS Parent Reports
Student 2022 MCAS performance reports were mailed home for our current 4th and 5th students on Thursday, October 13th. We are carefully analyzing these reports and other data to see where we will focus our efforts for increased student performance as we continue to recover from the learning disruptions of the pandemic. You can also view school and district performance data on the Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education website. The state press release will provide you with additional information as well.
Champions After School
If you are picking up your child from the Champions program after school, please enter through the front of the building until 4:00 pm as we are using the side door access for buses.
Pumpkin Fest/Family Day
The Friends of Pond Meadow Park will hold a Pumpkin Fest-Family Day on Saturday, October
22nd, with a rain date of Sunday, October 23rd, from 11:00 a.m. until 4:00 p.m. at the park.
Hayrides, face painting, games, pumpkins, decorations, and food will be available.
