Principal's Update
As the season changes and the leaves turn to gold, we're transitioning into deep learning time. Our routines and procedures are mostly set, allowing us to enjoy the academic questions and discussions that arise with rigorous and responsive instruction. Thank you for working with us to launch a successful new school year. We look forward to meeting with you again during conferences on October 13 and 14 -- please be sure to sign up for a virtual, phone, or in-person meeting with your child's classroom teacher. Our partnership allows our students to thrive!
Thank you for your kindness, support, honest feedback, and commitment to our school family!
Warmly,
Heidi Johnson
The Math Wall
We are so excited to reintroduce the Kenwood Math Wall to our School Community. This year we are going to take a different approach to celebrating our Kenwood Mathematicians and their Mathematical excellence.
Ms. Thompson and Alyssa will be posting open ended Math Problems each month on the Math Wall. Students will get to choose which problem they would like to solve. Once the students have completed the task, they can place their work in either Ms. Thompson or Alyssa’s mailbox. Student work will be posted on the Math Wall.
Check for Head Lice
Several Kenwood families have reported that their children have recently been treated for head lice. Please review the CDC link and the Hennepin County PDF (below) about head lice and the best practices for treating it. We appreciate your taking proactive steps to prevent the spread of head lice. Don't hesitate to contact Nurse Traci or HSA Holly in the health office with any questions: 612-668-2766.

Kenwood Community School PTA Transformation Survey
In partnership with other MPS Parent Organizations, the Kenwood PTA is seeking insight into our school community's perspective on the recently announced district Transformation Proposals, specifically as they relate to Kenwood.
Our first priority is to encourage you to provide feedback directly to MPS - they want to hear from families directly. That said, deeper insight into our direct community's thoughts about these proposals will be helpful for us to share with our school board representative, Adriana Cerrillo. Please take a moment to complete our brief survey. Please feel free to share this with neighbors in our school boundary, even if their children do not attend Kenwood. We understand these proposed changes, while directly impacting current Kenwood families, may also impact neighbors.
