Consent Agenda - Treasurer
Treasurer Carolyn Huber recommended acceptance of recent donations and proposed January 12, 2026 at 6 p.m. for the Board’s annual organizational meeting, regular meeting, and tax budget hearing.
Mrs. Huber reported a balance of just over $ 11 million in the general fund. She explained that November revenue was primarily driven by state funding, which is typical for this time of year. The district has spent 40% of its annual budget to date. Mrs. Huber also shared a breakdown of district expenditures, noting that most fall into the categories of salaries, benefits, services, supplies, and other operating costs. Within the services category, 71% supports direct student instruction and teacher needs, while 14% is specifically dedicated to special education services.
As part of Mrs. Huber’s legislative update, she provided a legislative update outlining several tax-related bills that will directly affect school funding. HB 129 would include emergency and fixed-sum levies in the 20-Mill Floor beginning January 1, 2026, while HB 186 and HB 335 would cap revenue growth, both for 20-Mill Floor districts and inside millage, at the rate of inflation. HB 309 would grant County Budget Commissions the authority to reduce voter-approved levies they determine to be “unnecessary” or “excessive.” Mrs. Huber explained that while these bills will provide some property tax relief; they will negatively impact school tax revenue.
All four bills have passed the House and Senate and are now awaiting action by the Governor, who has ten days to sign or veto them. (*The bills were sent to the governor on December 9.)
Mrs. Huber's presentations are available under the Treasurer Consent Agenda items, 6.
