Butler's Holiday Gift Giving Tree - 2023
Holiday Giving Program…
A great way to offer comfort and support to Butler families
this holiday season.
Beginning November 17th, the Butler Giving Tree will be on display in the hallway near the main office. The Giving Tree will have tags that display the names of holiday gifts that can be donated for families in our Butler Community who are in need of extra support this holiday season. We invite our Butler students and families to choose a tag (if they wish) to purchase the gift listed. We ask that you wrap the gift and be sure to secure the same tag to the outside of the gift wrap. Please inform your student to only take a tag if directed so we are sure all items are received by the office in time.
All gifts should be delivered to the main office no later than December 15th - to ensure holiday delivery. Thank you for all of your wonderful generosity and support!

CBSD Attendance Letter
Please review the "Managing Student Attendance Plan" from CB.
Electronic Devices from Home
At the start of the new school year, the Superintendent shared CBSD Policy that all student cell phones/watches are to remain off during the school day - K-12. Please know that any students who bring in cell phones to Butler are required to leave in backpacks (turned off) and do not have access during the school day. Likewise, some of our students have watches that connect to phones and/or directly to a data source. The rule remains the same, so please know that if any device interferes with the classroom/learning/recess/etc., students will be directed to keep items home. Remember, parents may always contact the school office to relay/share a message for your child throughout the school day. Thank you for your cooperation and support.

As part of October's Responsible Citizen initiative, our school will be organizing a Candy Collection for our troops following October 31st, Halloween! This long-standing connection to our community's Service Men and Women is to show appreciation to those who are deployed overseas or across our nation - serving and protecting our country. Our Butler Ambassadors, with the support of Mrs. Keeler and our Veteran's Day Committee, will collect candy items throughout the week immediately following Halloween - Nov.1st-10th. Students bring in their unwanted Trick-or-Treating Donations and place in hallway boxes located in classrooms. Our 6th Grade Butler Ambassadors will organize and send to varied organizations who will then distribute to our troops. See link or image below for details.

Kindergarten trip to Merrymead Farm - 10/27
Kindergarten students from Butler Elementary went to Merrymead Farm in Lansdale, as part of our science unit on the Seasons and Fall. On a hayride, they saw many signs of Fall, like corn fields and hay bale statues. They met a scarecrow who told them the history of Johnny Appleseed. We met farm animals, navigated our way through a corn maze, and jumped on a giant pumpkin trampoline. When it was time for a rest, the students enjoyed a seasonal treat of apple cider donuts. Memories were made while learning about all the seasonal fun that can be had on a farm!
Superintendent's Student Council at Butler - 10/25
Butler Board Game Day - 10/30
As part of Butler's Positive Behavior Program, students receive Power Paw rewards for demonstrating actions that are respectful, responsible, and kind. Each month, classrooms count the number of rewards received from each of the students. If every classroom reaches the goal of 100, a special day is dedicated schoolwide. With everyone reaching the goal of 100 in September, we held a school-wide Board Game Day on October 30th! Great job students!
PTO Butler Haunted Gym - Sixth Grade PTO Event - 10/20
On Friday, October 20th, the Butler PTO hosted another "spooktacular" Haunted Gym with the help of many students and parents from the 6th Grade class! A fantastic tradition for many years, students dress-up in varied costumes as they decorate hauntingly fun scenes for students and families to walk through. Students enjoyed the "jump scares" as the 6th graders howled and screamed throughout the night! Congratulations to everyone who helped to make this a fantastic and fun night for our school community!
Emergency Planning - Security Drill
Each year, Butler Elementary conducts varied drills that support efforts in maintaining an safety and security if ever there was an emergency situation in our schools. Monthly drills are coordinated that are timed and reported in the event a fire would occur in our school. Additionally, Butler holds annual drills for Shelter-in-Place or a Weather Emergency (like a tornado or flash flood). Our final drill we prepare for is our security drill which was held on November 1st, with the support of the New Britain Township Police Department. Not only were they available to maintain a safe presence on the commute, but in reflecting about our procedures and preparations. It was a successful event, and we appreciate the coordinated efforts of our police department, CBSD Transportation, CBSD Operations, the Butler staff & students, and our neighbors!
