The playground at Dodd got a facelift over Spring Break. Thanks to Grant Freels, Josh Hayes, Lucas Butler, Case Pitt, and Daylon Bennett students now have two new basketball backboards, goals with chain netting, 2 basketball keys, 6 4-square courts and various playground balls. These boys spent a day of their Spring Break and along with their parents transformed our outdoor basketball court into a fun, inviting area for our students to play.

This group of boys had a dream of revamping the playground and leaving something behind when they move on to Middle School for student to enjoy for years to come. The boys presented their idea to the PTO and received $700 to help fund their project. Much of the paint and equipment was donated by Sanger Hardware. Krum ISD maintenance department also pitched in to help stripe the concrete pad. Justine Wollaston, local artist, assisted the group with the design. Mrs. Reynolds was the group's faculty adviser and helped coordinate efforts.

The boys have received media attention from the Denton Record Chronicle, North Texas Television from UNT, and Channel 5 News. The boys also presented their story and unveiled the project to the student body when students returned from Spring Break.

A huge thank you goes out to this amazing group of 5th graders for bringing tons of smiles to the students of Dodd Intermediate.

It is recommended that children 9-12 years of age get 9-10 1/2 hours of sleep every night. Well rested kids and better able to learn.

Students will be working on projects using Google Slides and Google Docs.

April is a fun time in music! Once the recorders come in, 4th grade will begin Recorder Karate. 5th grade is learning ukulele on the classroom set of ukuleles.
