Wildcat Weekly- 9/28-10/2

Message from Mrs. LeMaster πΎ
Dear Pomerado Families,
A huge thank you to our PAWs for an incredible Rewear Event! We had such a great turnout, and I know it took a lot of planning, organizing, and behind-the-scenes work to make it happen. We are so grateful for everything you do to bring our Pomerado community together!
Thank you to everyone who joined me for Coffee with the Principal this week. I always enjoy the opportunity to connect, hear your questions and ideas, and learn more about what is important to our families. We talked about attendance and the important role consistent attendance plays in student learning and connection. Every day matters, and even missing a couple of days each month can add up quickly over the course of a school year. You can find the slides from our conversation here.
Our School Site Council (SSC) also met this week. If youβd like to learn more about SSC, including meeting information and documents, you can find everything on our school website.
I hope everyone has a wonderful weekend. Thank you for another great week!
With gratitude,
Lauren LeMaster
Attendance Awareness
Start the Day on Time!
A few extra minutes in the morning can make a big difference! At Pomerado, the first bell rings at 8:40 AM, and the final bell rings at 8:45 AM. Students should be in their classrooms and ready to learn by 8:45 AM.
When Wildcats arrive late, they may miss important morning announcements, classroom directions, and daily routines. Arriving after instruction has started can also make it harder for students to settle in and get the most out of their school day.
Families can help by:
- β° Creating consistent bedtime and wake-up routines. Preparing backpacks, clothes, and lunches the night before can make mornings smoother.
- πΎ Talking about the importance of being on time. Help your child understand that arriving on time means starting the day ready to learn.
- π Building in extra time. Give your family a few extra minutes for unexpected morning delays.
- β€οΈ Reaching out for help. If there are challenges or barriers making it difficult for your child to arrive on time, please reach out to our office. Weβre here to help!
Letβs help our Wildcats start each day an Attendance H.E.R.O. β Here. Every day. Ready. On-time!
Celebrating Our Custodians β Friday, October 2!
Friday, October 2, is National Custodian Day, and weβre celebrating two very special members of our Pomerado family!
Mr. Ryan, our lead/day custodian, goes above and beyond every day for our students and staff. He is always anticipating what our campus needs, jumping in when a student needs help, and lending a hand wherever he canβeven when itβs outside his regular duties. His care and willingness to help make such a difference at Pomerado!
We also want to give a big thank you to Mrs. Ellen, our night custodian, who works behind the scenes to make sure our campus is clean, cared for, and ready for our Wildcats each morning.
If you see Mr. Ryan or Mrs. Ellen around campus, be sure to give them a big Wildcat thank-you! We appreciate all they do for our school community!

Counselor's Corner
Iβm so excited to start another wonderful school year at Pomerado Elementary! This year marks my fourth year with Poway Unified School District, and Iβm so grateful to continue being part of such a special school community.
As your school counselor, one of my biggest priorities is making sure every student feels safe, supported, included, and valued at school. I look forward to getting to know our students, supporting them through their successes and challenges, and helping make Pomerado a place where every child feels that they belong.
Please feel free to reach out anytime. Iβm always happy to connect and support our students and families!
Kindly,
