A Few Words From the Principal

I hope everyone had something to celebrate, something that they accomplished during quarter 1 here at MT. On Thursday we took some time to celebrate the learning that occurred during quarter 1. We had some students learning how to play chess, we had students learning how the economy works while playing Monopoly, we had students setting goals for next quarter we had team building activities occurring outside and inside through out the day at every grade level. We ended our day with our 6th grade, book club members, and aspiring authors attending an author talk with Lindsey Curry. Everyone ended the school day with an all school pep assembly. If that was not enough we had a dodgeball tournament fundraiser. What a high energy, action packed, day of a variety of learning experiences.

While students are at home today and Monday we are preparing for a wonderful second quarter. This morning we spent some time collaborating in preparation for next quarter and did a community service activity. PTA treated us with a candy apple bar to end our morning. We also have contractors in the building installing new bulletin boards in the halls. We are looking forward to the start of quarter 2 on Tuesday. Make sure you are ready to participate in the Red Ribbon Week Spirit Days that begin on Tuesday.

It's October — Time for monster movie nights! Come eat popcorn with your friends while watching a classic horror film.

We're showing Frankenstein for 7th grade after school on October 28 and Dracula for 8th grade after school on October 30. There's no charge for admission, but a parent permission slip is required to attend. Look for these slips during WIN this week.

Thanks for a great dodgeball tournament, MT! We raised $629.87 toward our goal of naming a service dog. We'll have more events through the year to help us reach our goal. And congratulations to our first-place tournament winners, Lejon Bames!

A big shout out to StuCo for a wonderful pep assembly and awesome dodgeball tournament!

“Just Give It” Annual Fundraiser

Exciting news! Mrs. King, Mrs. E, Mr. Walters, Mr. Watts, and Mr. Yancey have agreed to get “silly-stringed” if we reach our fundraising goal of $15,000! SO, we have extended the deadline to October 25! Currently, we have raised $10,572, with 38% of our families donating. Every contribution, no matter the size, helps us get closer to our goal. It also gets your student an extra chance to do the silly-stringing!

If we raise $11,000 one teacher gets stringed.

Get to $12,000 – 2 teachers

Get to $13,000 – 3 teachers

Get to $14,000 – 4 teachers

Get to $15,000 – ALL 5 teachers!

Additionally, the winning hall will win early dismissal from school one day next quarter. Here’s the current breakdown.

8th Contenders: $2,320.00

7th Navigators: $1,594.00

6th North: $1,583.00

7th Trailblazers: $1,477.00

6th South: $1,340.00
