What's Happening at Woodside?
3 Day Week: Community Principal-for-the-Day, Ruby Bridges Day, End of Trimester
This short week with school only Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday was filled with special moments! On Tuesday, we welcomed Vice Mayor MariJane Lopez-Taff to our campus as our Principal-for-the-Day! She enjoyed reading in classrooms, meeting students on the playground, and working with Principal Wahl. Also on Tuesday, our third grade classes experienced a live webinar with Ruby Bridges! She was being interviewed by Bellen Woodard, a 13-year-old author and activist leading a movement for inclusive coloring. Bellen Woodard was only 8 years old when she noticed that her classmates often asked for the "skin color" crayon, when what they really meant was peach. That simple observation led her to becoming the world's first crayon activist! Thursday marked the end of the first trimester. Our middle schoolers that have met the behavior expectations for the trimester enjoyed an engaging couple of hours at C-Bar-C Park! Students were able to choose engaging stations (that were suggested by the middle schoolers themselves) and have lunch in the park setting. We thank our volunteers and Project Optimism mentors for helping make this a success!
Woodside's Buddies Highlighted...Again!!
This past week, San Juan Unified highlighted our amazing Buddy system with a new video. You can find this on the District social media page. We are so proud of our Cougars!! To read and view on Facebook, click here
Conference Week is HERE! Dismissal at 11:20 for 1st-8th and 11:00 for TK/K
Next week marks a week of minimum days to allow time for Parent-Teacher Conferences. This time is so important for the partnership of school and home to come together in support of your child. You will have time to learn about your student's progress thus far in the year (the first trimester), learn more about the expectations for the rest of the year, and go over individual strategies that may enhance your student's education. If you would like more information about preparing for Parent-Teacher Conferences, please view this pre-recorded video.

If you would like to participate in this worthwhile effort, you may come into the office and pick one or more STARS from the Giving Tree. Each star will have information about the child's age and a specific gift that the parent thought the child would like.
The stars will be placed on the tree beginning Monday, November 18th. The gift should be returned to the office by Tuesday, December 17th. The gifts should be wrapped, and the star should be placed on top.
