Summer Opportunity

Project: Python is a summer program focused on teaching Python programming to HCPSS middle schoolers. Founded and taught by Mount Hebron high schoolers fluent in Python, the program is designed to give middle schoolers a head start in the world of programming. The best part? It’s virtual! Programming is one of the few topics that can be easily taught in a virtual setting. Over the span of 5 weeks, meeting online for just over an hour a day, students can learn and master every core Python topic to the point of being able to explore Python projects on their own.

Having programming experience from a young age allows for students to utilize many more computer science opportunities in high school - from prestigious clubs and competitions to real-world internships - that in turn ultimately pave the way for a successful career in computer science.

Whether you know computer science is your path, or you just want to explore STEM, Project: Python offers a great use of your summer to pick up a new and potentially life-changing skill in the Beginner Program, or to expand your Python knowledge far past what you already know in the Advanced Program.

Students/Parents: Find more information about the program’s topics and timings along with the application form and contact information on our website:

Important Immunization Requirements for 2026-2027 School Year - 7th Grade Students

Effective the first day of school for the 2026-2027 school year, 1 dose of Tdap vaccine and 1 dose of Meningococcal vaccine (MCV4) are required by the state of Maryland for all students entering grade 7. Many students may have already received these immunizations, but the Health Room may not have the updated immunization record. Please contact your student’s doctor and send or fax an updated copy of your student’s immunizations to the Health Room or schedule an appointment to have your student receive these immunizations. Our fax number is 443-973-5510. The Health Department provides immunization opportunities for kids who are not up-to-date on school-required vaccinations. Call the Health Department at 410-313-7500 for more information and to schedule a vaccination appointment for your child.

If you have further questions, please email Cheryl Harris, TVMS School Nurse, at cheryl_harris@hcpss.org.
