Hello Rocky Point Families Hello Rocky Point Families

Happy Mother’s Day to all of our mothers, grandmothers and caregivers in our Rocky Point Family. We hope that you have had a wonderful day being celebrated for the loving, supportive individuals that you are!

We are so proud of how hard our students continued to work this past week to prepare for their end of grade assessments. Our students in grades 3-5 worked so hard on Friday as they took the NC Reading EOG. We only had one absence in these grade levels on Friday, which we highly appreciate! Families will be made aware of what students need to take readministrations on Wednesday, May 13. Please know that attendance continues to matter as all teachers continue to instruct students to prepare them for the remaining end of grade assessments in grades 3-5 as well as for the upcoming grade in grades Pre-K-2. A reminder again to please make sure to mark your calendars for everything coming up during the remaining 3 weeks of our school year!

Thank you to everyone who helped us celebrate our teachers this past week during Teacher Appreciation week. Every positive message and gift was highly appreciated by our staff and administration!

Again, Happy Mother’s Day to all of our RPE Mothers! Our quote for this upcoming week as we continue our end of grade assessments, remediation and readministrations, We are looking forward to seeing our students’ continued efforts, persistence and success during end of year assessments and assessment preparations this week!

End of Grade Assessment, Remediation & Readministration End of Grade Assessment, Remediation & Readministration

Students in grades 3-5 will continue their End-of Grade state assessments this Tuesday, May 12, as they take their Math EOG. On Thursday, May 14, 5th grade students will take their Science EOG. Please ensure students are getting plenty of rest and a healthy breakfast in order to be able to perform to their best ability on these end of grade assessments.

As we have previously shared, following the administration of NC End-of Grade assessments for students in grades 3-5, Pender County Schools will offer remediation before the retest is given to students. Remediation will take place following the completion of End of Grade (EOG) assessment from May 11th- Tuesday, May 19th. Retesting of EOG assessments will occur May 14th-May 20th as follows:

  • Thursday, May 14: 3rd grade Reading Readministration

  • Friday, May 15: 4th & 5th grade Reading Readministration

  • Monday, May 18: 3rd grade Read-to-Achieve assessment

  • Tuesday, May 19: 3-5 Math Readministration

  • Wednesday, May 20: 5th grade Science Readministration

Your student(s) will work with their grade level teacher and other staff members to focus on skills that will promote success for retesting. Please note that if this form is not returned, your child will not be permitted to participate in this retesting opportunity. If you would like your student to have the opportunity to retest, please complete this google form, EOG Readministration Opt-In Form, with your email address that is associated with your Infinite Campus account or return the paper form with your signature that is being sent home students in grades 3-5 this afternoon. Thank you to all families who have already completed this form.

If you have any questions, please contact Mrs. Bethanie Cramer, our Assistant Principal and Test Coordinator at bethanie_cramer@pender.k12.nc.us. Thank you for your continued support through this process.

Ronald McDonald Pop Tab Challenge Continues - Meet Ryleigh Ronald McDonald Pop Tab Challenge Continues - Meet Ryleigh

Meet Ryleigh, she is 8 months old. This sweet girl is working on her third surgery. Her brother goes to Rocky Point Elementary, so this hits a little closer to home. She will be in and out of Chapel Hill for a few years doing multiple surgeries. She has already had 2 surgeries now for the 3rd surgery around October to Christmas, where she will be in the hospital for 2-3 months for recovery. She has something special and extremely rare called cloaca malfunction that she will be getting worked on next. From her mother, Lynzey, she wants to personally thank everyone who has donated and continues to save their tabs for us to take to the Ronald McDonald House.

Again, please consider saving and sending in all of your tabs from soda, food and pet food cans as we will continue our efforts in collecting tabs to send to the Ronald McDonald House to help Ryleigh and other children like her. Let’s work together to collect as many pop tabs as possible!
