Canvas Studio

Instructure is changing the way that it works with YouTube. In order to keep video learning distraction free and privacy first, they have announced a partnership with YouTube to bring their Player for Education directly into Canvas Studio starting September 1, 2025.

This integration allows YouTube videos in Canvas Studio to stream:

  • without distractions, recommendations, or links back to YouTube.

  • with viewers remaining anonymous to YouTube through a "signed-out" viewing state.

  • with captioning from YouTube to maintain accessibility.

This means educators can now use Canvas Studio to safely and confidently incorporate YouTube content in their instruction without exposing students to commercial distractions or compromising institutional data privacy standards. Please note that this experience is exclusive to Canvas Studio.

To take full advantage of the Player for Education, YouTube videos must be added to Canvas Studio. To make it easier to migrate YouTube videos from Canvas to Canvas Studio, we’ve created a
step-by-step guide and are maintaining FAQs.
