Inside WGSD

Our People
Ann Cook is a 2nd grade teacher at Givens Elementary. She has been teaching in WGSD for 32 years and has always been a 2nd grade teacher. Ann has taught in the same building for all of those years, first when it was known as the Computer School and now as it is known as Givens Elementary. In her own words, "this school truly is my home away from home."
Ann says that what she likes most about her job is her students because "they make me laugh and smile every single day. I also find so much joy in watching my students grow both academically and socially. Having former students come back to visit or reach out in some way is a perk of this profession as well. It’s so rewarding to see my little second graders grow up and become successful adults."
She says the most challenging part of her job is, "trying to meet the individual academic and social needs of all my students. They all need me in different ways and it’s my job to do my best to meet all their specific needs. That’s what keeps me up at night."
Angie Richard said, "Ann has such a loving and caring spirit that is lavished on everyone she comes in contact with. Her laughter and love is contagious and very evident as former and present student are always looking for a hug from Mrs. Cook! As her team member, I have been extremely thankful for the love, support, and concern that she has for me as a person, teacher, and friend. Thank you Ann for making our working environment feel like home!"
Thank you to Ann for serving the students of WGSD for 32 years!

Phishing Emails
Data breaches, ransomware, viruses, spam, phishing and credential theft are an unfortunate part of on-line life in 2022. Reputable organizations, including WGSD, will never use email to request that you reply or redirect you to a webpage asking for your username, password, Social Security number, or confidential personal information. Be suspicious of any email message that asks you to enter or verify personal information. If you accidentally provide your email address, username/password by clicking on a link or replying to an email, or if you have any other questions, please contact your building tech support.
We want to hear from you!
We understand the importance of communication as we work together to improve our schools. We've created a brief survey to help determine how and what you'd like to hear from us and how we might better hear from you.
We plan to use survey results to help guide efforts to improve our communication practices and ensure that everyone has the information they need to help our students and school community succeed. Employees of WGSD are important stakeholders in our community and we want your voice to be heard. Please take the survey here.
