Falcon Update
Heritage Middle School-Week of March 15th
Letter from the Principal
Dear HMS Families,
Thank you to all of the families that completed the 5 Essential Survey - we hit our goal!
Congratulations to the Heritage Middle School 7th and 8th grade band who is going to State! Our band performed at the IGSMA (Illinois Grade School Music Association) District level contest. Our band scored high enough to qualify for the state festival with bands from all over Illinois. Congratulations to all of our band members, we are so excited to see you perform at State.
Please be reminded that we have no school on Tuesday, March 17th.
We will begin the Illinois Assessment of Readiness (IAR) on Wednesday, March 18th. It is important that students are present and arrive prepared each day of testing. Students should bring a fully charged iPad and a pair of working USB-C headphones, as headphones are required to complete portions of the assessment. Please check with your student to ensure they have everything they need ahead of time so that testing can run smoothly. We appreciate your support in helping students be prepared and ready to do their best.
To celebrate students’ effort and commitment during testing, we are excited for our grade level Minute to Win It Assembly on Friday, March 27th. Students who have perfect attendance during the IAR testing window will be able to attend the assembly.
Again, We appreciate your flexibility and understanding this past week while we navigated the plumbing issues. We are very grateful for the amazing Heritage community.
Thank you,
Michelle Hauer

District 100 strives to ensure that all students and families feel safe, supported, and valued in our school communities. Fostering an inclusive and welcoming school environment is deeply ingrained in the culture of our district and is fundamental to the success of our students. Resources to support families with immigration-related concerns are available on the family resources page on our website.

Heritage Spirt Wear
Purchase Friday spirit wear by using the link below.
PBIS Rewards
We utilize an app called PBIS Rewards where students earn points throughout the school year for being Responsible, Respectful and Safe. We have a PBIS store that we open for students to purchase fun items with their points. We also do raffles, field trips and a winter extravaganza that students can utilize their points throughout the year. We encourage students to use their points by the end of the year as they do not roll over!
StopIt
This week, students will download STOPit to their iPads. This is an online application that Heritage students have access to. This application allows students to anonymously report incidents of bullying, misconduct or general concerns. All reports go to the support service team and administration, which allows us to act quickly and in real time to any concerns or incidents.
Breakfast & Lunch
Students at Heritage receive free breakfast and lunch each day if they choose to participate, or they may bring their own lunch from home. As a healthy school, we ask that students do not bring pop, energy drinks, or large bags of snacks.
Breakfast will be served each morning before students head to their Period 1 class. Lunch will take place at the scheduled time according to the bell schedule, and students will also have the option to participate in recess during their lunchtime.
Below will be where you can find the menus for Heritage through OrganicLife.
