The Barton Scoop

During the month of October students at Clara Barton Elementary School were learning about traditional art forms from Mexico. Third and Fourth graders sculpted clay pottery inspired by our featured artist Juan Quezada from Mata Ortiz! Our next stop during the month of November in art class is India!

Students in our class participated in a chaining activity where each child represented a different sound. We manipulated sounds to blend and make new words!

In math, first grade is learning how to solve How many more? problems. We are using money, cubes, and drawings to help us figure out the difference.

In science, first grade has been learning about light, sounds, and communication. We practiced using light to communicate information to a partner. Can you tell what pink meant? 🙂

Students are learning how to write in cuneiform. Cuneiform was the writing used in Mesopotamia in ancient times.

In the spirit of thankfulness this November, we’re excited to launch our Barton Staff Recognition Initiative! This is the perfect opportunity to show appreciation for our incredible teachers, aides, encore, and resource staff who make a difference every day.

Now through December 6, we invite you to share your gratitude by filling out the Staff Recognition Form below.

December 10th: 2:20pm – 4:00pm

December 12th 2:20pm – 4:00pm

Scheduling through the Genesis Parent Portal will be available to parents/guardians 11/18/24 – 12/5/24.
