Campaigns for Change

Students lead campaigns at their schools this year which called students to action and brought awareness to challenges and issues that young women are facing at their school. From homelessness to hygiene, to bullying, to kindness. Check out the photos below of some of this exciting work.

Pathways to Career

In partnership with American Heart Association, students visited Christ Hospital and Messer Construction to learn about careers in STEM as well as the Christ Nursing School. Students were joined by volunteer mentors from the United Way Women of Tocqueville who are in STEM careers.

"I was interested in clothing design but I could see myself enjoying a career in construction design using Artifical Intelligence."

"Our Tomorrow is Why" Family Engagement Events

Engaging multiple generations together to strengthen the spirit of sisterhood among the students and the community. We hosted three small intimate events at Aiken, Dater-West High, and Woodward High Schools this year in partnership with Activities Beyond the Classroom and Dr. Shantel Thomas of A Sound Mind Counseling.

Participants engaged in learning about the dating cycle and emotions behind the masks we wear. A Senior at Woodward High School even brought her 8th grade student mentee.

Celebrating the dedication of our high school programs and welcome the next generation of elementary-middle school students.

We recognized high school students, facilitators, mentors, and partners for their commitment and accomplishments this year with awards and gifts.

Our keynote speaker and first student recipient of CPS Girls To Women Laura Mitchell Sheroe Award was Anairis Ellis 12th grade G2W Captain for Woodward Career Technical High School.

We also heard from many Sheroes including CPS Superintendent Laura Mitchell and Sonia Jackson Myles of The Sister Accord organization recipient of the CPS Girls To Women Laura Mitchell Sheroe Award.

We also presented the first Girls To Women Crown Award to Brianca Gay Woodward Facilitator and Katie Mason G2W Captain Oyler, Activities Beyond the Classroom Pow-Her-Ful Award to Dayahn Thomas Dater HS Facilitator and Sha'moni McGee G2W West High student, and The Sister Accord Award to Jada Rodgers Shroder HS G2W Captain.
