Fannie C. Williams

Fannie C. Williams (1882 - 1980)

Williams was a trailblazer in her nearly 60-year career as an educator. She was the driving force behind the passing of Child Health Day in 1928, and she instituted kindergarten and standardized testing for students long before Louisiana required it. She was the principal at Valena C. Jones Elementary and Normal Schools in New Orleans, Louisiana from about 1921-1954. Williams was a pioneer in African American education and public schools in the South and she served on many boards for a variety of local organizations, as well as participated in conferences hosted by three American presidents. Williams was widely respected as a principal and was devoted to professional development, which motivated her students and teachers to pursue higher education and higher-level positions in the school systems across the country.

OUSD High School Showcase - Canyon High School, February 22nd

“The Orange Unified School District is inviting all families to the Canyon High School Community Showcase Event on February 22, 2023. The event starts at 5:00 pm with elementary and middle school performances and the high school showcase event will begin at 6:00 pm. This is a great opportunity to see everything that our Anaheim Hills Feeder Pattern Schools have to offer students TK-12th grade. The community will also be able to tour the brand-new state-of-the-art STEM building at Canyon, so you are able to show your students what they will get to experience as they go through the Anaheim Hills feeder pattern. Food trucks will be on site as well. We hope to see you at this great community event.”
