Congratulations to our Jaguars of the Month!
It’s time to shine a spotlight on the amazing individuals who make SKG an extraordinary place to learn and grow. Congratulations to this month’s Jaguars of the Month — your dedication, kindness, and commitment to excellence have not gone unnoticed. Whether you're inspiring others in the classroom, supporting behind the scenes, or leading by example as a student, you truly embody what it means to be part of the SKG family. We’re proud to celebrate you!
How a Student’s Coding Skill Created an AI Device for Dementia
Real Science, Real Impact: Student Innovation at Seckinger
Science fair projects do more than win ribbons: they solve real-world problems and spark life-changing inventions. Check out the GCPS TV Feature above about showcasing how one of our own Seckinger students, Zach Orwin, used his science fair project idea to design an AI-powered wearable pin that uses facial recognition to help individuals with dementia navigate daily life. We are so proud of Zach for representing Seckinger so well, and we can’t wait to see how he continues to develop this prototype in his current science fair project!
The Science & Engineering Fair offers a rich learning experience that aligns seamlessly with all components of the AI Learning Framework. A huge shoutout to our Science teachers for all they do to support our students with this initiative. We can't wait to see the innovative science fair projects that our students create this year!
It's Time for Friday Night Food Fight!
Our annual Friday Night Food Fight has arrived! We are competing with Collins Hill this year! All SKG donations will go The Pantry @Hamilton Mill. The Pantry serves hundreds of families in our community every week.
Morning collections will begin on Tuesday, September 22 as students enter the school building - both near the bus lane and the car rider line. Monetary donations through SuccessFund (https://sfnd.io/fnff26) will go live on Monday, September 21. All funds donated will be used to purchase non-perishable food to donate.
PTSA Reflections Contest
The PTSA Reflections Competition is now accepting entries in Visual Arts, Photography, Dance Choreography, Film Production, Music Composition, and Literature. Students are challenged to create work that interprets the theme, "What My Culture Means to Me". Entries and entry forms are due by Wednesday, October 21 to Mr. Lasseter in T431. School winners will advance to the county level and could go on to the state and national level. Show us your creativity!
