Families of the Bay
Hello, Families of The Bay!
Thank you for connecting with us during conferences last week! We appreciate the chance to hear from you, celebrate your student’s progress, and talk through where they may need more support. If you weren’t able to connect with a teacher, please reach out. We still want to have that conversation.
Between conferences and Spirit Week, there were lots of opportunities to connect and show our Timberwolf pride. As we head into a full week of school, please help your student get back into their daily routines: arrive on time, bring a charged Chromebook, and be ready to participate.
One way you can support learning at home is to ask, “What’s your evidence?” Whether your student is explaining something they read or sharing an answer from class, encourage them to tell you what supports their thinking. We’re helping students move beyond giving an answer to explaining how they know.
Our October focus on Respect continues through everyday actions: listening, using kind words, respecting personal space, and helping others feel included. These small choices help make The Bay a place where every student feels known, seen, and supported.
A couple of reminders for the week:
Season 2 sports begin Monday, October 26. Please check that your student has completed the required registration and clearance steps.
Picture retakes are Friday, October 30.
Thank you for staying connected and working with us to support your student. Every Day at the Bay matters!

OCTOBER- Bullying Awareness Month
This week, our T-Wolves came together to celebrate Unity Day, taking a stand against bullying and showing what it means to be part of a school community built on kindness, respect, and inclusion!
Students showed up, signed the Unity Day pledge, and made a commitment to be part of the positive change at The Bay! We're working together to change the narrative, take pride in our school, and create a culture where every student feels safe, respected, included, and valued.
Throughout October, our schoolwide focus has been Respect, one of our 3Rs. Unity Day was a powerful reminder that our words, actions, and everyday choices matter. Each of us has the opportunity to make a difference by including others, standing up for what's right, and showing kindness.
We are proud of our T-Wolves for stepping up, taking a stand, and showing what it means to be Proud to Be a T-Wolf! 💙
Together, we're building a better Bay, one positive choice, one act of kindness, and one T-Wolf at a time!
A New Month, a Fresh Start for Attendance BINGO!
Each month brings another chance for students to join our attendance BINGO celebration! To qualify, students need:
No unexcused absences
No tardies
If your student didn’t qualify last month, they get a fresh start this month!
We look forward to celebrating students for being at school and getting to class on time. Thank you for helping your student build these habits at The Bay!

Staff and students are encouraged to join in the Halloween fun by dressing up if they feel comfortable! A Quick Look at Our Student Handbook
With so many students sharing classrooms, hallways, lunch spaces, and the gym each day, it helps when we’re all working from the same expectations. Our Student Handbook explains those expectations and is a good place to turn when you or your student have a question about how things work at The Bay.
Take a look when you have a chance: Oakland Bay Junior High Student Handbook. You can also reach out to us if you need help finding an answer.

Fragrance Free at the Bay
At OBJH, we’re committed to a safe, healthy, and focused learning environment for all students. Strong scents (perfume, cologne, body spray, scented lotions) can trigger headaches, nausea, difficulty concentrating, and even serious allergic or asthma reactions. Because scents linger and spread in shared spaces, they can impact an entire classroom and disrupt learning.
This isn’t about preference—it’s about health, safety, and access to learning for every student and staff.

HELP US KEEP THE BAY A NO TECH ZONE
To support student learning, connection, and a positive school environment, cell phones should be turned off and stored in student lockers during the school day.
We appreciate families partnering with us to help students stay present and focused throughout their day.
A few important reminders:
Cell phones should be off and stored in lockers
Students should not carry phones in classrooms, hallways, or other school spaces
If a student needs to contact home, a staff member can help
If families need to reach their student during the school day, please contact the main office
Thank you for helping us create a school environment where students can focus on learning, relationships, and being part of our T-Wolf community.

Parking Lot Safety
Please help us keep arrival and dismissal safe for everyone:
Buses: Use the lane directly in front of the building.
Student Pick-Up/ Drop-Off: Use the center lane.
Watch carefully for students and pedestrians.
Drive at a slow, safe speed and follow the traffic flow.
Please bring a little extra patience during busy arrival and dismissal times.
Thank you for helping us keep the OBJH parking lot safe and moving smoothly!
Become a Volunteer
At the Bay, we believe in the power of teamwork and the strength of community. To help foster a sense of safety, belonging, and connection for all our students, we are inviting you to partner with us by volunteering!
Your presence and involvement not only enhances safety but also shows our students that their families and school are united in supporting their success. Whether you can join us weekly or for special events, your contribution will make a meaningful impact.
