MESSAGE FROM THE PRINCIPAL
CHS COMMUNITY,
It was a truly successful week for our student-athletes as several athletic programs celebrated major victories!
Congratulations to the following programs on their achievements:
Soccer: Both the Boys and Girls Soccer programs won their first post-season games! A fantastic start to their tournament runs.
Volleyball: The Girls Volleyball team won their exciting first post-season match!
Football: Our 8th Grade Football team traveled to Youngstown and finished their season undefeated with a perfect 8-0 record!
2026 COMMENCEMENT CEREMONY
We are pleased to announce that the Commencement Ceremony for the Class of 2026 has been scheduled.
Tuesday, May 19, 7:00 PM @ Parkside Church
SCHEDULING OF STUDENT-ATHLETES
We understand the importance of avoiding conflicts with post-season athletics. I have worked closely with Mr. Doug Higham, our Athletic Director (AD), to select the best date during that week.
Due to the recent division changes in track (Chardon moving from Division 1 to Division 2) and the addition of two new divisions, we currently do not have a concrete date for the District Track Meet.
To secure the venue, we had to reserve the space based on our best estimate that Tuesday, May 19, will be conducive for all students and programs.
SENIOR EVENTS AND HANDBOOK
We are meeting with our student senior advisors this week to finalize the events and deadlines for the Class of 2026. We will be sharing the Senior Handbook with all details, including commencement rehearsal and other related events, very soon.
COMMUNITY
Students from our football team, band, and cheerleading squad volunteered on the campuses of Park, Munson, and Chardon Early Learning Center to welcome our younger students to school.
The excitement and support our older students showed for the early grades were fantastic, and the elementary students clearly enjoyed the lively morning music and positive energy!
A huge thank you goes to Mr. Doug Higham for organizing this fantastic event and to all the students who participated and made it a success!
NO HOMEWORK WEEKEND, OCTOBER 31
We strongly encourage all students to unplug from academics the weekend of 10/31. This is a designated time to step away from schoolwork, relax, recharge, and enjoy quality time with family and friends.
Please help us reinforce this policy by ensuring your student refrains from working on any formal assignments or projects. The goal is to promote a healthy balance between school life and personal well-being.
SCHOOL PICTURES
Pictures were sent home TODAY. If you did not receive them, have your child check with Mrs. Bross in the attendance office.
Enjoy your weekend!
Mr. Tomco
CHS AFTER PROM & PTO
Help us finish up our fall concession fundraising by volunteering in the concession stand. We are in need of volunteers for tomorrow's JV Football game, the 10/23 Freshman Football game, and our
10/24 Varsity Football game vs. Kenston. Here is the sign-up: https://www.signupgenius.com/go/30E0544ABA728A0F49-57856041-football#/
Don't forget: All proceeds from concession sales benefit CHS students and staff!
Seeking a Dedicated Leader: Chair for PTO & After Prom 2026
Thank you again to everyone who attended the meeting last week and who continues to support our students.
As discussed, we're announcing the upcoming departure of Michelle Fisher from her role as PTO and After Prom Chair. We cannot thank Michelle enough for her outstanding leadership over the past few years, which included skillfully managing our concessions, coordinating meetings, and ensuring the success of the After Prom event.
After Prom event is a truly FANTASTIC and memorable experience for our Juniors and Seniors.
The success of these programs relies entirely on having a dedicated volunteer at the helm. We are now actively seeking a new PTO/After Prom Chair to lead our organization NEXT YEAR (2026-27) and continue the tradition of providing a safe, memorable, and high-quality post-Prom celebration.
If you are interested in learning more about this vital leadership opportunity, please contact Mr. Tomco directly at adam.tomco@chardonschools.org to discuss the position details.

GUIDANCE DEPARTMENT
BEYOND THE TRANSCRIPT
Chardon High School will be hosting a college panel for parents called Beyond the Transcript featuring representatives from The Ohio State University, Miami University and Kent State University
The panel will focus on how families can help students — especially those in grades 9–11 — prepare for success after high school. In addition to admissions and scholarships, panelists will discuss important skills such as organization, time management, stress management, and independence.
Parents are invited to submit questions in advance for the panel to address.

NOVEMBER 01
Just a reminder that Nov 1st is a huge deadline for college admissions. Please be aware of any Letter of Rec requests that students may have submitted for you. If you have any trouble accessing these Naviance requests or completing your LOR's, please stop down and see Mr. Hurlbut or reach out.
AP Exam Fees & Registration
AP (Advanced Placement) exam fees have been set at $99 for the 25-26 school year. These AP Exam fees will be added to student's Infinite Campus next week for students taking an AP course
If your child IS NOT planning on taking the AP exam associated with their AP course, they need to have a conversation with their teacher, and reach out directly to me before the order is submitted on Nov. 7th. (in-person or via email). Once the AP exam order has been submitted, any changes to that order will result in a $45 charge.
Students that qualify for Free/Reduced Lunch/Meal Benefits will have their AP Exam fee waived. If you feel that you may qualify for these benefits, please complete the Meal Benefits application through your Infinite Campus portal.

INTERACT CLUB
Interact, the student branch of Rotary, is a dynamic program that fuels a lifetime of service. Any student willing to commit to brief monthly meetings and three or more service projects a year (Chili Cookoff on October 24, Jeremy’s Kids holiday collection, and the Beautification Project in the spring) is welcome to participate in this service and leadership-oriented club. Please join Mrs. Weaver for our next meeting on Monday, October 20, at 2:45 in CHS room 205. If you cannot attend, email Mrs. Weaver dawn.weaver@chardonschools.org. The Chardon Rotary Club generously selects CHS students of the month and scholarship recipients. Participation in Interact is a way to repay them for their commitment to the Chardon community.
