🏫 A Message from the Principal

Dear Students, Families, and Guardians,

October is a busy and exciting time at our school. As we settle into the heart of the semester, I want to thank you for your continued support and partnership. Our students are engaging in learning, building connections, and showing great progress, and it's clear that our school community is stronger when we work together.

This month, we’re emphasizing the importance of consistent attendance. Every class matters, and showing up each day helps students stay on track academically, socially, and emotionally. Please help us reinforce the message that being present is key to success.

As the fall season brings cooler weather and shorter days, it also brings opportunities for growth, whether through upcoming assessments, extracurricular activities, or preparing for college and career pathways. Encourage your student to stay focused, ask for help when needed, and take pride in their efforts.

Thank you for being an essential part of our school community. We look forward to a successful and productive October!

Warm regards,

Daniel Garcia, Principal.

Phones AWAY for the DAY

I want to share an important update about a new state law that will impact all Texas schools, including Pflugerville ISD.

Beginning this school year, a new law, House Bill 1481, requires that students not use personal devices during school hours. This means that from the first bell at (9:00 am) to the last at (4:15 pm), students must keep items like cell phones, smartwatches, earbuds, tablets, and gaming devices put away and out of sight. The law applies to any personal wireless device that can send or receive data, unless it's been issued by the school for instructional purposes.

Here’s what this means in everyday terms:

  • Personal cell phones, tablets, gaming devices, smartwatches, Bluetooth headphones or earbuds, and even fitness trackers that can send or receive messages must stay stored away during the school day.
  • There are exceptions for students with documented medical needs or special education accommodations

This law aims to help students stay focused, reduce distractions, and create a safer and more respectful learning environment for everyone.

What Devices are Restricted:

  • Personal cell phones

  • Tablets

  • Gaming devices

  • Smart watches

  • Bluetooth headphones or earbuds

  • Fitness trackers that can send or receive messages

  • Personal computers not being used for instructional purposes

  • Two-way radios

  • Pagers

  • Any other device capable of digital communication.

πŸ“… Attendance Matters!

Did you know that regular school attendance is one of the biggest factors in student success? When students miss school, even just a day or two each month, it can add up quickly and impact learning.

Why Attendance Matters:

  • Builds strong learning habits

  • Keeps students on track academically

  • Helps students feel connected and involved

  • Prepares students for future responsibilities

Let’s work together to build a culture of showing upβ€”because every day counts!

FAFSA Nights at CHS

Join us for FAFSA Nights in the cafeteria, where students and families can get one-on-one help completing the Free Application for Federal Student Aid. Counselors and financial aid experts will be available to answer questions and guide you through the process.

Don’t miss this opportunity to get the support you need to take the next step toward college!

Targeted Improvement Plan

As part of state accountability requirements, our campus is developing a Targeted Improvement Plan to address areas of need and ensure improved outcomes for our students. Your input is an important part of this process.

Here you will find a draft of the Targeted Improvement Plan. We invite you to review the plan and share your feedback or suggestions so that we can strengthen it together.

We invite you to our Targeted Improvement Plan meeting 10/8 at 5:30 pm at our school.

Community Eligibility Provision Forms (CEP) πŸ˜πŸ“

Community Eligibility Provision Forms (CEP) are coming home starting Monday, August 25th!

These forms help determine our school’s eligibility for free or reduced price meals for every student. By completing and returning the completed form to your students 7th period class, you’re helping ensure all students continue to receive meals at little no cost and supporting crucial school funding. Please check in with your student and return the completed form as soon as possible.

To add a little fun we will have a little competition between 7th period classes. The first 5 classes with 100% form return will earn a pizza party! πŸ•πŸ˜‹
