MTSS Lead Weekly Updates
Week of 11/4/24
November 5th DLD
iReady is updating their platform to provide digital literacy tasks. Our next screening window is January 8-31, 2025 and we want to be ready. We will offer three sessions for MTSS Leads on the iReady Digital Literacy Tasks during the November 5th DLD. Please register for your desired session time using PLZ course #47387. Links to join are available in the DLD Guidebook, but will also be emailed to registered participants today.
8:30-10:00
10:30-12:00
1:00-2:30
These November 5th sessions are for MTSS Leads only. iReady Literacy Tasks are used primarily in grades K-8, but there are additional screeners that are administered to screen for Characteristics of Dyslexia at the 9-12 grade band that are not a part of iReady. 9-12 is welcome to attend so they are familiar, but the additional screeners, which are not new, are not the focus of the 11/5/24 training. Additional opportunities will be available during November and December so that all can be trained.
Our sessions are virtual and offered multiple times during the day. Please allow yourself time to vote tomorrow.
Pearson and PCG Active Tickets
I along with MSCS IT have been diligently working on the active tickets with two of our vendors, but the issues are not yet resolved. Last week we were so close to being able to lift the alert, but the issue resurfaced. The data quality alert remains in place in PowerBi and our DAIM Team is aware of the issue.
Please be mindful when offering feedback to teachers that you have taken time to hand-review data directly from the platforms and are not relying on reports. As soon as I have any updates I will share them.
MSCS Office Hours Continue in November
November Professional Learning Opportunities
November Professional Learning Opportunities can be found in the Professional Development folder of the On Target for Success SharePoint.
Grades 9-12 Only
I am seeing an uptick in students in grades 9-12 where foundational literacy is a deficit area for students. I will offer a PD session for MTSS Leads and Interventionists in grades 9-12 on some best practices for supporting students in older grades with foundational literacy skills. This will be an in person offering the week of 11/18/24. Location and time coming soon!
Leadership Development Week
We want MTSS Leads to be in the know too! Moving forward, I will schedule meetings for MTSS Leads who do not have a specific date to attend so that relevant information will be disseminated to you. These will be virtual sessions held on Monday, November 18 and Wednesday, November 20. Links will be added to the November Professional Learning Opportunities flyer and also placed in next week's edition of MTSS Lead Weekly.
Self Reflection
Last week I saw this picture on social media. No credit was given, but it was too good to pass up because of what it made me reflect on. Earlier this year when we kicked off the school year virtually on July 18th I talked about how we would continue to use the RTI2A mantra "On Target for Success!" While we have each taken steps to head in that direction, I am noticing that we have variance in how we are getting there. Some of us have goals only and we can see only that goal but we are failing to see how we we will get there. Some of us have systems only and we are just moving along on a the ladder day in and day out without a goal visualized. However, some of us are seeing real movement when we have the goal and system both present and aligned. As we are well into Quarter 2 at this point, please take a moment to self-reflect on where you and your school are related to MTSS. What adjustments need to be made to remain on target for success?
