Monday, January 19th is a half day for Westwood students. They will take their 5th and 6th hour exams that day and the new semester will begin on Tuesday, January 20th.

As the new semester begins, we encourage students and families to start strong by setting goals, keeping good routines, and staying positive. Regular attendance, open communication, and healthy habits will help students succeed. Let’s work together to create a supportive, kind, and successful semester for everyone.

The Scholastic Awards are the nation's longest-running recognition program for creative teens. Each year, more than 100,000 teens across the U.S. and Canada enter their art and writing for a chance to receive opportunities for recognition, exhibition, and scholarships

Four Westwood High School art students submitted artwork to Scholastic to be judged for awards and all four students received awards!

Isabelle Recollet- Silver Key and Honorable Mention

Savannah Rautio- Gold Key

Addisyn Sundberg- Silver Key x2

Morgyn Hansen- Honorable Mention

Savannah's Gold Key piece will continue on to National judging.

Their artwork will be displayed at the DeVos Art Museum at NMU from February 11th- March 11th.

Winter Carnival

• Mon: Monochrome Monday (wear one color)

• Tues: Rhyme Without Reason (2 or more people dress up as words that rhyme, but have nothing in common)

• Wed: Wacky Wednesday

• Thurs: White Collar vs Blue Collar Day

• Fri: Red, White, and/or Pink Day

• Semi-Formal Dane: 8 -11 pm in the cafeteria

Students who plan on bringing a guest to the Semi-Formal on Friday, January 23rd are required to submit a guest form for their guest. Forms can be picked up in the office and should be turned in no later than 3:00 pm on Friday, January 23rd. Guest will not be admitted to the dance if no form is on file.

All school districts in Michigan are required to share the Sexual Harassment and Information Guide with students in grades 6-12. I have attached the information guide as and some additional informaton including the districts Title IX coordinator information and specific school policies related to sexual harassment and sexual assault.
