Headteacher's Message
Dear Parents and Carers,
Welcome back to the final half term of this academic year. I hope you all had a relaxing sun-filled break with your families. The children have returned to school this week rested and ready for a busy Summer term. We look forward to enjoying many wonderful events in the coming weeks, including end of year trips, Eco week, St. Francis of Assisi Day, OLSG Summer fair, the Year 6 Summer production and of course saying a fond farewell to our Year 6 leavers, when the time comes.
Please keep in mind these reminders, for the warmer weather to come:
Uniform: Please ensure children are in their summer uniform and have a sun hat for outdoor play.
Sun Protection: As the weather warms up, please apply sun cream before school.
Water Bottles: Staying hydrated is essential for focused learning- please ensure your child brings a refillable water bottle to school.
Best wishes,
Ms R McGylnn
Headteacher

Discernment Class Assembly
Prayer Challenge Success!
As you may know, Mrs Rodrigues set the whole school a big challenge- to join together in saying the Hail Mary 1000 times during the month of May. We are pleased to say that we met our goal of 1000 Hail Marys. Well done to everyone who contributed a Hail Mary in our online prayer room, reminding us of the power of prayer as we grow in faith together. I wonder what our next prayer challenge will be?
First Holy Communions and Marian Procession
On the 9th and 16th of May, a number of our pupils made their First Holy Communion, receiving the Eucharist for the first time, and celebrating alongside their families and parish community. On Sunday 17th May we enjoyed our annual Marian Procession, which culminated in glorious singing and prayers to our Mother Mary. Thank you to the Church, catechists and parish community for preparing our children to receive the blessed sacrament and bringing everyone together for these special events.
Teddy Bear Picnic
On Thursday 21st May, Curiosity class enjoyed the sun by going on a teddy bear picnic as they were focusing on the book 'Paddington' in literacy. They each brought in a teddy from home and enjoyed the delicious food and amazing weather. What a fabulous activity.
CAFOD
On Wednesday 3rd June, our CAFOD representative Brenda visited our school to lead two special assemblies at Upper Site and Lower Site as well as workshops for Year 3&4. It was great to hear about the incredible projects which CAFOD supports, enabling families facing poverty overseas to live better lives. Thank you Brenda for reminding us how our school donations can make a huge difference.
Anne Frank Trust
On Friday, Year 5&6 took part in some workshops delivered by the Anne Frank Trust. The workshops focused on anti-discrimination, and explored these serious themes, which sadly effect the lives of so many people around the world. The work was very thought provoking and really challenged the children to consider how we can play a role in ending discrimination in our local community.
Year 1 Trip
On Wednesday 20th May, Year 1 had a fantastic trip to the Museum of Childhood. The class took the over ground train all the way to Bethnal Green to the Young V&A Museum. The children took part in a designer workshop, pretended to be architects, turned the museum into a playground and got very tired by the end of the day. They cannot wait to go again! Many thanks to the staff and parent helpers who made this amazing trip possible.
Congratulations!
We are delighted to share that Ms Aguilera, our Year 3 teacher is expecting a baby and will be starting her maternity leave at the end of this half term. We know that many families will want to join us in congratulating her and wishing her well as she prepares for this exciting new chapter. We wish Ms Aguilera and her family every happiness.

Reflection- A new Half term, a new opportunity
As we begin this final half term of the academic year, we do so with a sense of gratitude for all that has been achieved and with hope for the weeks that lie ahead. It is hard to believe how quickly the year has passed. Looking back, we can see the many ways in which our children have grown academically, socially, spiritually and emotionally, supported by the dedication of staff and the partnership of families.
The summer term often brings a mixture of excitement and reflection. For some of our pupils, this half term will mark the end of their journey with us as they prepare to move on to the next stage of their education. For others, it is a time to consolidate learning, embrace new challenges and continue striving to be the very best versions of themselves.
In our Catholic faith, we are reminded that every ending is also a new beginning. As we celebrate achievements and milestones, we recognise that God continues to guide us on our journey. The words of St Paul encourage us to "run the race with perseverance", reminding us that our efforts, kindness and determination matter every day, right through to the finish line.
This half term provides an opportunity to finish the year strongly: to continue showing respect and compassion towards one another, to work hard, and to live out the Gospel values that are at the heart of our school community.
As a school family, let us embrace these final weeks with enthusiasm, positivity and faith. May we continue to support one another, celebrate each other's successes and recognise God's presence in all that we do.
