McDade ISD Bond Election
October 3, 2025 Vol. 3
Why a Cafetorium Matters for Our Students and Community
McDade ISD is committed to providing safe, functional, and intentional learning environments for all students. As part of the upcoming bond project proposal, one of the most important additions being proposed is the construction of a cafetorium—a combination cafeteria and auditorium space.
A centralized cafeteria would solve these challenges by:
-
Combine two kitchens into one efficient space
-
Allow staff to provide more from-scratch meal options for all students
-
Address overcrowding while improving daily meal service
-
Provide a versatile space for One Act Play, student reward programs, and community events
This project would not only improve nutrition and efficiency but also create a shared space for learning and community use.

Shaping the Future of Our Schools Together
Why This Matters
The cafetorium is more than a building. It’s an investment in:
Student health and nutrition
Educational opportunities and enrichment
Physical wellness and access to a dedicated gym
Community pride and connection
With this addition, McDade ISD will better serve current students and prepare for future growth, ensuring our facilities meet the needs of both academics, required nutrition, instructional /proformance spaces and community life.
Optimizing facilities where students dream big and families feel at home
Supporting Student Nutrition and Instruction
- A dedicated cafetorium will provide a central space for meal service at both the elementary and secondary campuses.
- By ensuring students have a healthy place to eat, we strengthen our district’s nutrition and wellness programs that directly impact learning and academic success.
Expanding Opportunities for Students
The cafetorium will also serve as a multi-use performance and program space, giving students opportunities to showcase their talents in music, art, theater, and more.
- Currently, McDade Elementary does not have a gym. By moving meal service into the new cafetorium, the existing elementary cafeteria can be transformed back into a full-time gymnasium—giving students a safe and dedicated space for physical education, athletics, and enrichment activities.
Building for the Community
Beyond school use, the cafetorium will provide a shared community space for events, performances, and gatherings.
- This investment creates a hub that strengthens the connection between our schools and the families we serve.
