Fisher Family Update March 14, 2025
Fisher FamilyUpdateMarch 14, 2025

Good Afternoon Fisher Families,

Thank you for taking the time to meet with your student’s teacher during conferences. Your partnership and commitment to your child’s education make a meaningful difference, and we truly appreciate the opportunity to connect with you.

These conferences are a valuable time to reflect on your child’s progress, celebrate their growth, and discuss ways we can continue working together to support their success. Your involvement helps reinforce the importance of learning and shows your child that we are all on the same team.

As we move into the final months of the school year, please know that we are here to support you and your child every step of the way. If you ever have questions or need anything, don’t hesitate to reach out.

Thank you again for being such an important part of our school community!

Enjoy the weekend!

Brian

2024 Fisher School Report Card

Every year, each public school and school district in Massachusetts receives a report card. Just as your child’s report card shows how they are doing in different subjects, the school’s report card is designed to show families how our school is doing in different areas. A link to our school’s report card is available at https://reportcards.doe.mass.edu/2024/03070015.

The report card includes multiple measures of a school’s performance – more than just MCAS scores. It represents a new way of looking at school performance, by providing information on student achievement, teacher qualifications, student learning opportunities, and more.

Report cards are designed to be useful tools for everyone connected to our school. Families can use the information to have meaningful conversations with us about what the school is doing well and where there is room for improvement. Community and education leaders can use the information to better understand how to support students and our school.

You will notice on our report card that Fisher students attend on average nearly 96% (95.6%) of all school days. To further improve student achievement, we will continue to work with families to decrease the percentage of students who miss more than 10% of the school year. Our students continue to meet or exceed our goals for student achievement in the areas of English Language Arts and Mathematics, making “substantial progress toward targets”. As a result of these efforts, Fisher School was named a “School of Recognition” by the Department of Education for 2024. To continue to improve student outcomes, we have implemented an intervention block in each grade to best meet the varying needs of our students in both English Language Arts and Math. We greatly value our partnership with families and see you as a critical contributor to the success of our students and school, and we are grateful for your continued support.

If you have questions about our school’s report card or would like to become involved in school improvement activities, please contact your building principal or district administration. To see our district’s report card or to search for other schools’ report cards, visit https://reportcards.doe.mass.edu/

Sincerely,

Brian Bemiss

Special Request - Boxes of Cereal

All Fisher students (K-5) will be participating in a special team building activity in March. We kindly request donations of unopened, regular size boxes of cereal. We need approximately 500 boxes since we are looking for enough to line our halls to make a "domino formation". After our team building activity, the cereal boxes will be donated to the Walpole Food Pantry. Thank you!

Fisher’s Finest Rally Against Cancer - March 2025

Our 2025 Rally Against Cancer has a little over a month to go and we are doing an incredible job of supporting the Jimmy Fund! We have three weeks left in our Change for a Cure challenge, and are nearing the $2,000 mark in change collected! That is amazing! As of March 7th, Mrs. Kelley’s team is in first place, having contributed over $300 to our cause. Ms. Romano’s class is in second place, and Mrs. Giampietro’s class is in 3rd place. There are several teams within striking distance of first place, and the opportunity to have a private Meet and Greet with a Red Sox player and front row seating at the assembly with the player if we are the top fundraising school. Our closest competition is several thousand dollars behind, but we all know how quickly those standings can change!!! So far, ten classes have earned their Jimmy Fund Rally bracelets for raising at least $50 in their class. That is the most classes we’ve ever had who earned bracelets! Our Rally total so far is approximately $12,000, so we have a great chance of breaking our all-time record and being the top fundraising team this year, never mind the top fundraising school!

Our Green Monster Wall of Honor has plenty of room for more baseballs! Order forms are available at school, I can send another one home for you, or you can just email me the information and send in your donation with your student. There is no specified amount - no donation is too small or too large! Let’s fill the wall with the names of those special people!

There are still some Fisher student Excuse notepads available. If you want to order one for only $5, all of which goes to our Rally, please click here: Student Excuse Notepad Order . As soon as I receive your payment, I’ll send the notepad(s) home with your students.

Once again, I would like to extend my deepest gratitude to all of the Fisher families who so generously support our Rally Against Cancer each year. This cause definitely hits home for so many here, based on your stories shared with me, the names and faces on our Green Monster Wall of Honor, and notes I receive with donations. We are helping Dana-Farber and the Jimmy Fund make great gains in both patient support and research to find better treatments and a cure for cancer. Thank you.

Thank you all for your amazing continued support of Fisher's Finest!
