A Message from the Principal
Hello Cougars!
Tomorrow is the big day! We can't wait to see our 6th, 7th and 8th graders tomorrow! Our 6th grade students will report directly to the cafeteria and their homeroom teachers will meet them there!
Our 7th and 8th graders will head directly to their homerooms at arrival. Don't worry if you forget where you're headed, we will have homeroom lists posted on the courtyard windows! All students will have a copy of their schedule ready for them in their homeroom, as well as a planner and a "first day" folder. Very important information will be coming home, so please be sure to look for this folder tomorrow!
All students will have an extended homeroom tomorrow where they will practice routines, find and practice opening their lockers and run through some back-to-school basics!
We can't wait to see you,
Mrs. Sands

Car Rider Information
If your student is a car rider:
AM drop off: Please do not enter the parking lot before 7:25am. When the car rider line backs up, it makes it difficult (sometimes impossible) for our staff to enter the parking lot. If you're earlier than 7:25, we ask that you wait outside of the school parking lot.
PM pick up: To expedite dismissal, please do your best to pull up, so we can load more cars (see image below).

Incoming 7th Grade Families — Action Required
Maryland state law requires all students entering 7th grade to have proof of two specific updated boosters before school begins:

Meningococcal vaccine (MCV4)

Lockers
Lockers and locker-combinations will be given to students on the first day back to school on Monday, August 31st.
Every student will be assigned a locker for the school year
Students may not share lockers/combinations with anyone
Students will visit their locker at the beginning/end of day and before/after lunch
Lockers will be a new skill that all 6th graders will be experiencing. Time will be provided to help support students. Please review this visual and video to understand how to open a locker.
CHMS Calendar
We place all events on our google calendar. This will always be linked at the end of each of our Cougar News issues!
Sports
Once school begins, look for more information on tryouts for our fall sports. We have the following fall sports available at Cherry Hill Middle School:
- Cross Country
- Unified Bocce Ball
- Boys Soccer
- Girls Soccer
In order to participate, students must be passing all classes and have an updated physical dated after 6/1/26. Please visit the CCPS athletics page for more information.
Budget Priorities & Involvement Survey 2026-2027
We are asking all staff, students and parents to complete this budget survey for the fall of 2026 as we make decisions to best support student learning and success. Expect additional budget survey(s) to be distributed later in the year. This survey will include information on how you would like to see our Title IV funds be used. Title IV is Newly authorized under subpart 1 of Title IV-A of ESSA, the Student Support and Academic Enrichment (SSAE) program grant’s purpose is to help meet the goal of ensuring equitable access to educational opportunities for all students. Under ESSA, the Title IV-A grants help meet this goal by increasing the capacity of SEAs, LEAs, schools, and local communities to fund activities that support three content areas: Well-Rounded Education, Safe and Healthy Students, and Effective Use of Technology. Please complete this survey by September 18, 2026.
Special Thanks!
Our neighbors across the street at Faith Southern Baptist Church stopped by last week! They stopped by to drop off some school supplies for the students at CHMS! We thank them for their generosity! What a special surprise!
