Santa’s Night: Thank You, Dewey Community!

Santa’s Night last Friday was truly a magical evening at Dewey! We had a wonderful turnout, and the generosity of our community was incredible. Thanks to your kindness, our toy drive was a huge success, with donations being distributed to families within our school community and across the greater San Juan community.

A heartfelt thank you to our amazing partners and volunteers:

Our very own “Grinch DJ” shared this after the event:

“DJ Grinch had an amazing and fun night! The Grinch loved our school and will happily DJ again. He said the kids were amazing and very funny. He was a little worried about scaring the younger students, but his heart grew three sizes — and he was nice the rest of the night!”

Celebrating student impact and generosity:

The Kids Only Shoppe raised nearly $3,000 to support 6th grade science camp
Hot chocolate stations raised $600 to support 5th grade camp

A huge thank you as well to our incredible PFO and all of the volunteers who helped plan, organize, and bring this beloved tradition to life. Santa’s Night continues to be a joyful reminder of the generosity, kindness, and community spirit that make Dewey such a special place.

Attendance - Every Day Counts!

It was wonderful to present Excellent Attendance awards to 114 of our Dewey students for the first trimester. In order to qualify, a student could have only one absence or tardy during the trimester, and it was great to see how many of our students met that high mark!

Be A Tiger Helper … Save All Little Toiletry Samples

As you are traveling this holiday season, please keep in mind that Dewey collects all small toiletries that you may receive at your hotels (shampoo, conditioner, lotion, shower caps, soap, toothpaste, sewing kits, etc.). Another great place to pick up some extra toiletries is your dental office. The free toothbrush, toothpaste, and dental floss they offer you are great items to donate as well. Please drop off your donations in the office or to Mrs. Ruswinkle in room 9. All items donated will be sent to the women and children at Wellspring Women’s Center.

6th Grade Snack Shop

For the month of December, our 6th Grade Snack Shop will be available under the overhang (near Room 9) from 3:30-4pm on *Wednesdays* instead of Fridays! There will be sodas, chips, and candy available for purchase for $2-3 each! Also, exclusively in December (while supplies last), we will have *Holiday Smencils* available for $2 each as well. Bring cash, or if parents are present, we accept Venmo too. Hope to see you there on 12/10, and 12/17!
