Class of 2026 Update

Hello Class of 2026! Hard to believe, but you have only 45 school days left before graduation. Finish strong, and enjoy all the end of the year events that are celebrating you and your class. The most important task you have left to do is to let me know where to send your final transcript if you are heading to college in the fall. Use this form to do so: https://docs.google.com/forms/d/1KpI9XtjAlkavPbxMH1RAhjs8Rr66pS3CuGum6UME7N0/edit

Every year, we get panicked phone calls in August from students who are either not being allowed to register for classes, or are being told their classes will be dropped if they don't submit a final transcript. By filling out the form now, you won't have to worry about that.

If you are not planning to go to college, you don't need to fill out the form. If you don't know where you are going, you can fill the form out anytime before June 15th. However, if you do know where you are headed, fill it out now and cross that task off your list.

Thanks,

Mr. Miner

Class of 2027 Update

Class of 2027 Parents/Guardians/Students - -

It's crazy to believe that we are almost 3/4 of the way through the school year. After Spring Break, all juniors will be taking tests that make up their Michigan Merit Exam (which is a graduation requirement). They will take the WIN Readiness test on 4/8, the SAT on 4/15, and the M-Step through their science and SS classes.

For some students, taking high stakes standardized tests can seem stressful. It's important to remember to get a good night sleep prior to testing, eat a balanced breakfast, and to practice relaxation strategies (such as deep breathing, positive self talk) prior to and while taking these tests.

To get extra practice prior to the SAT, students can download College Board's Bluebook app on their own device to access free full length practice tests that are timed and scored!

Lastly, I've been starting to get some college application and FAFSA questions. A couple important items to note at this time:

- Class of 2027 students can begin working on their college applications starting AUGUST 1ST (NOT BEFORE - - applications are known to be reset and erased if completed prior to Aug 1st)!

- We have a Paying for College Presentation coming to BHS in April...see further info in the "Upcoming Events at BHS" section!

Only 2 more weeks until Spring Break :).

Class of 2028 Update

Hi 10th Grade Students,

As we head into the final stretch of the school year, there are 2 things that you need to focus on.

1. Complete Your Junior Year Schedule- I believe I have met with every single one of you!

If you signed up for an application class, make sure to turn it in. If you are planning on testing out of something, make sure you watch for the announcement in April for dates. If you have questions about your options, reach out so I can help.

2. Prepare for the 10th Grade PSAT
All sophomores will be taking the 10th Grade PSAT on Wednesday April 15th. This test is great practice for future college entrance exams and helps identify areas where you can continue to grow academically.

To get ready:

  • Make sure you know your testing date and location (coming out soon)

  • Get a good night’s sleep before the test

  • Bring any required materials on test day

  • Take advantage of practice resources if you’d like extra preparation

Completing your junior schedule and preparing for the PSAT are both important steps in planning for your future. If you need help with course selection or have questions about the test, please don’t hesitate to reach out.

Class of 2029 Update

As we head into the beginning of what feels like spring, it’s a great time to check in on your progress and finish the 3rd quarter strong! Communicate with your teachers if you have missing work that still needs to be turned in or tests that need to be made up.

Spring can be a busy and sometimes stressful time, so it’s important for you to take care of yourselves! Good sleep, balanced schedules, eating healthy, staying active and asking for support when needed all play an important role in academic success. We will be heading into spring break soon and I am hoping you all can get some well deserved rest and relaxation.

When we return we will be getting ready to take the PSAT 9. This is a great opportunity to see where you are and reflect on areas you need to improve on.

As always, make an appointment with me if you have any questions about class requests for next year or if I can help in any other way!

Mrs. Feliks

Spring: A Fresh Start for Mental Health

As winter fades (eventually) and the days grow longer, spring offers a natural opportunity to reset and refocus. Just as everything around us begins to bloom again, this season can also be a reminder to take care of our mental health.

For high school students, spring can be both exciting and stressful. Warmer weather, school events, and the anticipation of spring break and summer can boost energy and motivation. At the same time, this time of year often includes busy schedules, upcoming exams, and academic pressure. It’s normal for students to experience a mix of emotions.

From a school social worker perspective, small daily habits can make a meaningful difference in supporting mental wellness:

  • Spend time outside. Fresh air and sunlight can help improve mood and reduce stress.

  • Take breaks when needed. Short breaks to recharge can help students stay focused and prevent burnout.

  • Stay connected. Talking with friends, family members, teachers, or counselors can provide important support.

  • Focus on progress, not perfection. Growth and effort matter more than getting everything exactly right.

For parents, spring can be a good time to check in with your teen. Simple conversations and encouragement can go a long way in helping students feel supported.

The counseling office is always here to help. If your student needs support managing stress, navigating challenges, or simply someone to talk to, please reach out.

Spring is a reminder that new beginnings are always possible!
