Hola familias,

Hoy resultó ser un día de primavera maravilloso. La primavera sigue asomándose entre las nubes y uno puede ver que los estudiantes estaban felices de descansar de la lluvia. Como sabrán, los maestros estaban preparando boletas de calificaciones esta semana y fue genial leer y escuchar todos los comentarios reflexivos y afectuosos que nuestros maestros tienen para nuestros estudiantes.

Las boletas de calificaciones se enviarán a casa con los estudiantes el lunes 17 de abril.

No olvide que mañana es nuestro Can Drive and Grounds Clean Up de 10 am a 12 pm. También este sábado, necesitamos voluntarios para ayudar a redecorar nuestra sala de descanso para los maestros. Si está interesado en ayudar, reúnase en la entrada principal de nuestra escuela a las 10:30 am.

La próxima semana nuestra cohorte de 5.º grado recibirá un regalo, algunos miembros del personal de la Escuela Intermedia George estarán de visita para darles a nuestros alumnos de 5.º grado un adelanto de cómo es la experiencia de la escuela intermedia, ¡muy emocionante para muchos de nuestros alumnos de 5.º grado! Tenemos un simulacro de terremoto e incendio programado para el 18 de abril. Entendemos que practicar los simulacros puede ser desencadenante para algunos estudiantes, por lo que un poco de ayuda de los padres para recordarles a sus hijos que es un simulacro de seguridad puede ayudar a reducir su estrés. Gracias.

Nuestro PTA se reunirá el jueves de 6 a 7:30 p. m. - Alentamos a las familias a asistir y participar en el aprendizaje de toda la información maravillosa que nuestro PTA tiene para presentar. También tendremos un Día de Carreras en toda la escuela el viernes 21 de abril. Los estudiantes están emocionados y ansiosos por escuchar a los miembros de la comunidad hablar sobre lo que hacen para ganarse la vida.

Hello Families,

Today turned out to be a wonderful Spring Day. Spring keeps peeking through the clouds to turn frowns upside down and one can see that students were happy to get a rest from the rain. As you may know, teachers were preparing report cards this week and it was great to read and hear about all the thoughtful and caring comments our teachers have for our students. Report cards will be sent home with students Monday, April 17th.

Don’t forget that tomorrow is our Can Drive and Grounds Clean Up from 10 am -12 pm. Also this Saturday, we are in need of volunteers to help with redecorating our staff lounge for our teachers. If you are interested in helping out, please meet at the front entrance of our school at 10:30 am.

Next week our 5th Grade Cohort is in for a treat, some of the George Middle School Staff will be visiting to give our 5th graders a sneak peak at what the middle school experience is like, (so exciting for many of our 5th graders). We have a scheduled Earthquake and Fire Drill for April 18th. We understand the drills can be triggering for students, so a little help from parents in reminding your children that it is a drill for safety, can help reduce their stress. Thank you.

Our PTA will be meeting Thursday from 6 - 7:30pm. - We encourage families to attend and participate in learning about all the wonderful information that our PTA has to present. We will also be having a Career Day Friday April 21st. Students are excited and looking forward to hearing community members speak about what they do for a living.

We are looking for volunteers to help paint the Teacher's Lounge and finish putting furniture together next Saturday 4/15 starting at 10:30 until we're finished. If you are interested in helping please email Christine at communications@jamesjohnpta.org or come to the cafeteria side doors and the Teacher's Lounge is on your right.

This upcoming Monday 45th Parallel Wines (located at 8527 N Lombard St, Portland, OR 97203) will be donating 10% of all sales from 12pm-8pm to the James John PTA. Adults 21and over can stop by and support a local business and our school at the same time. Please pass the word along to your neighbors and friends!

Please join us this Thursday for our April PTA Meeting. We'll be working on projects for Teacher and Staff Appreciate week and for our Volunteers and would love your help. We'll also be discussing open positions on the PTA Leadership Team so if you're interested in what PTA does and how to help this would be a great time to come. Elections will be held at our May meeting.
