Dear MCE Families-

As we move into the month of February, I want to thank our amazing MCE families for your continued partnership and support. Your involvement—both at home and at school—plays a vital role in our students’ success.

February is a wonderful time to reflect on the progress our students have made so far this year and to stay focused as we continue building strong learning habits and routines.

As a quick reminder, families are encouraged to regularly check their child’s lunch balance through Infinite Campus. If you have questions or need assistance, please feel free to reach out to Ms. Debbie. She sends home lunch balance sheets most Fridays, so please be sure to watch your child’s backpack for these updates.

Thank you for being an important part of our MCE community as we work together to develop life-long learners through positive collaboration.

With gratitude,

Dr. Jacob
Principal, Montgomery City Elementary

The Healing Library The Healing Library

Our school counselor, Ms. Taylor, partnered with the Montgomery City Public Library to help bring The Healing Library to our community. Through a grant, the library created “Healing Kits” for children, teens, and adults, and our counselor assisted in selecting some of the books, activities, and resources included in each kit.

These Healing Kits focus on important life topics and are designed to support children, teens, adults, and families through a variety of experiences. They are a valuable resource for learning, connection, and support.

Families are encouraged to visit the Montgomery City Public Library to explore and check out these kits. We are thankful for this partnership and excited to share this opportunity with our school community!

February is HOT, HOT, HOT! February is HOT, HOT, HOT!

We are excited to kick off a fun new attendance challenge at MCE! Our Hot, Hot, Hot Awards will be a friendly competition between the K–2 hallway and the 3–5 hallway to encourage students to be Here on Time, Every Day. Whenever an entire class is present and on time, they will earn a special certificate to proudly display outside their classroom door. At the end of the competition, the class in each hallway with the most certificates will win a POPCORN PARTY!

Being at school and on time makes a big difference in student success, and we appreciate your help in getting students here ready to learn each day. We can’t wait to see which classes heat up the hallways with great attendance!

Friendship Parties: February 13th Friendship Parties: February 13th

Teachers will be sharing details soon about our upcoming Friendship Parties in February. These classroom celebrations are a special opportunity for students to build community and enjoy time together.

Parents may be invited by classroom teachers to participate and be involved. Since this is a special day for your school-age child, siblings will not be able to attend.

In alignment with our District Wellness Policy, classroom celebrations should support healthy choices. If food is provided, we encourage options such as:

  • Fresh or dried fruit (no sugar added)

  • Raw vegetables

  • Whole grain items

  • Water

Families are also welcome to contribute non-food items such as game supplies or small prizes like stickers, pencils, bracelets, bubbles, or notepads.

If snacks are sent, quick and easy ideas include popcorn, pretzels, whole grain crackers, string cheese, trail mix, fresh fruit, or veggie sticks with low-fat dip. Please remember that any treats should be commercially prepared and pre-packaged.

Celebration times will vary by grade level, and your child’s teacher will share specific classroom details.

Thank you for helping us make celebrations fun, meaningful, and healthy for all students!
