Hello Rocky Point Families Hello Rocky Point Families

As we approach the last week of school for the 2025-2026 school year, we celebrate our partnership with each family that we serve! We appreciate your efforts in reading our weekly messages, following our social media and news posts, communicating with our teachers through Rooms and communicating with our office email in regards to student absences and transportation changes. We are grateful to serve such a wonderful community as we work diligently to prepare students to be successful each year as well as beyond elementary school in life. Please check your messages from individual classroom teachers for information in regard to classroom celebrations this upcoming week. Also, please note that the last day of school, Thursday, May 21 is an early release for students and they will be dismissed at 11:20 a.m.

As we approach our final week of school, our quote for this upcoming week as we continue our end of grade remediation and readministrations and celebrate student success at this week’s upcoming grade level celebrations. End of Grade Assessment, Remediation & Readministration End of Grade Assessment, Remediation & Readministration

As unofficial student results of end of grade assessments were sent home last week, you are able to see just how hard our teachers have been working to teach grade level standards for mastery with students and how hard our students have been working to demonstrate their knowledge on the EOGs. Official individual student reports will be coming home with students with their report cards on the last day of school pending state approval to do so.

This upcoming week readministrations will take place for Math for students in grades 3-5 and for Science for 5th grade students that did not demonstrate proficiency on the first assessment. Remediation will take place on Monday, May 18th for Math & Science and Tuesday, May 19th for Science. Administration of Read to Achieve testing will take place for select 3rd grade students and retesting of EOG assessments will occur this upcoming week as follows:

  • Monday, May 18: 3rd grade Read-to-Achieve assessment

  • Tuesday, May 19: 3-5 Math Readministration

  • Wednesday, May 20: 5th grade Science Readministration

Please note that attendance continues to matter as all teachers continue to instruct students to prepare them for the remaining end of grade assessments in grades 3-5 as well as for the upcoming grade in grades Pre-K-2. A reminder again to please make sure to mark your calendars for everything coming up during the remaining 3 weeks of our school year!

Ronald McDonald Pop Tab Challenge Continues - Meet Ryleigh Ronald McDonald Pop Tab Challenge Continues - Meet Ryleigh

Please bring in your can pop tabs this last week to support Ryleigh. Again, Ryleigh is 8 months old. This sweet girl is working on her third surgery. Her brother goes to Rocky Point Elementary, so this hits a little closer to home. She will be in and out of Chapel Hill for a few years doing multiple surgeries. She has already had 2 surgeries now for the 3rd surgery around October to Christmas, where she will be in the hospital for 2-3 months for recovery. She has something special and extremely rare called cloaca malfunction that she will be getting worked on next. From her mother, Lynzey, she wants to personally thank everyone who has donated and continues to save their tabs for us to take to the Ronald McDonald House.

Again, please consider saving and sending in all of your tabs from soda, food and pet food cans as we will continue our efforts in collecting tabs to send to the Ronald McDonald House to help Ryleigh and other children like her. Let’s work together to collect as many pop tabs as possible!
