Dear Fairfax Families,

We are thrilled to announce that our Scholastic Book Fair is happening this week Monday, November 10th through Friday, November 14th from 8:45 am to 3:45 pm in the Fairfax Elementary School cafeteria or online for all students! The Book Fair is always an exciting event that helps foster a lifelong love of reading in our students.

Visit https://bookfairs.scholastic.com/bf/fairfaxelementaryschool5 to browse in advance or purchase books online! We accept cash and credit cards for in person sales in the cafeteria.

You can also set up eWallet for easy, cashless shopping for your child at the book fair using the QR code in the attached flyer!

Volunteers Needed

We need many volunteers to help make this event a success! This is a fun and rewarding opportunity to assist students and teachers as they select books and explore the joy of reading.

💛 “Grand for a Day” Guests

We understand that not every child has a grandparent who can attend. We are so grateful to have about 20 volunteers from the Church of the Savior who have generously offered to serve as “Grands for the Day.” They will participate in the breakfast and craft with the students and even purchase a book for their assigned student at the Book Fair. If you are interested, please fill out this form.

📝 RSVP Reminder

Please RSVP by Monday, November 10th to confirm attendance. If possible, we encourage students to arrive at school with their Grand to help the event begin smoothly.

We can’t wait to celebrate this special tradition with our students, families, and community partners!

📚Read-A-Thon Fundraiser (November 3rd- November 25th)

Each student will bring home a sign-up sheet and flyer with all the details on how families can donate and log reading minutes. Students that share their read-a-thon link to at least 10 people will receive a prize!

Incentives & Goals!

We’ll have awesome prizes for:

  • The classes and grade levels with the most reading minutes logged

  • The students who read the most minutes AND raise the most funds

Student Goals:

  • Reading: 120 minutes (that’s just 2 hours of reading!)

  • Fundraising: $200

Class Goals:

  • Reading: 300 minutes (5 hours total!)

  • Fundraising: $750

Our goal this November is to celebrate reading, build great habits, and raise funds to support exciting student and staff incentives. Let’s make this month all about books, fun, and Fairfax pride!

The Attendance Night Event for Wednesday, November 12, 2025 has been cancelled.

🔑 School Highlights & Reminders

PBIS Goals:
At Fairfax, we strive every day to be Respectful, Responsible, and Safe. Families can help reinforce these expectations by talking about what they look like at home, in the classroom, and in the community.

Attendance Matters:
Strong attendance is key to your child’s learning and success. Missing just a few days can set students back, and our school’s overall attendance also impacts our district report card grade. Please support your child in building positive habits by arriving on time and attending every day possible.
