Cooperation is Character Trait of the Month!
Dear Explorer families,
2022 is off to a great start! During the month of January, our students worked on showing what they know through the completion of benchmark assessments. Teachers use benchmark assessment data to drive instruction in the classroom and plan for interventions. Our intervention block, which we call WIN time (what I need), is a time where students receive targeted instruction on skills identified through assessments. At Donald Eismann, we are celebrating growth and next steps with WIN where everyone is winning!
This month we are talking about Cooperation! Cooperation is about assistance and support, about collaboration and teamwork. It is a necessary tool in our toolbox for creating a community that cares for one another. Here is the definition we are using:
Cooperation: Working together and helping others.
A lot of messaging in our world would suggest that “doing it on your own” is a measure of success. And while independence is important, we must develop skills to work alongside one another and create things, together, that are better than anything we could create on our own. Successful people know when and how to ask for help and are generous in giving it out when they have something to offer! Cooperation requires great communication, self-awareness, and the ability to step up (or step back) when the time is right to best support whatever group you are working with. Over the course of the month, we will be creative in teams, accomplish amazing things side by side, and learn about what it means to do meaningful, purposeful work together.
February is going to be a fun-filled month with multiple opportunities for students to engage in activities that promote cooperation. We can’t wait to see what this month brings!
Thank you to those of you who attended our SBLSD curriculum night! We had a great turn out and enjoyed having conversations with many of you about teaching and learning at DEE. If you were unable to attend and still have questions about curriculum or would like to preview our materials please email dee@sumnersd.org.
Take care,
Bobbi Snider, Principal

Student highlights
Keegan Hall is stopping by DEE this month to celebrate Art and MultiCultural Literacy Month.
At DEE every grade level is in charge of a service project throughout the year that they lead. The goal is to connect service and the power of helping others to all of our students. At DEE we have amazing diversity and culture on our campus that we want to celebrate. To honor diversity here at our school the 1st grade teachers decided to put on a service project called R.E.A.C.H (Recognize, Empathize, Allow, Car, Hold Each Other Up) The goal is to connect multi-cultural literacy with a new art skill. All students at DEE will participate in creating their own art project and decorate the halls of DEE. To celebrate a friend of Assistant Principal Brett McDaniel, Sumner High School grad Keegan Hall, will join the DEE students to share his passion for Art and inspire our students to follow their dreams. Keegan is a pencil artist who has helped raise millions of dollars for others through his masterful works. He has been on the Kelly Clarkson show as well as being hired by the White House to draw a mural of the President and First Lady. Most notably, Keegan finds his inspiration in local sports and music icons. We are thrilled he will be on our campus Thursday, February 24th. Please check out his story and website listed below. For more information on Keegan Hall please contact Mr. McDaniel at brett_mcdaniel@sumnersd.org.
