Principal's Corner

Mrs. Miller and Mrs. Jamali’s first graders honored our Veterans with a touching performance and breakfast celebration. The students sang patriotic songs with pride and spent time talking with and getting to know the Veterans who attended. It was a meaningful morning filled with gratitude, smiles, and special connections between our students and those who have served our country.

Nurse's Notes

Health Screenings:

Vision, hearing, and BMI (Body Mass Index) screenings have been completed for students. These screenings are an important part of our effort to ensure the health and well-being of all students. If any concerns were identified during the screenings, a referral letter will be sent home with your child. The letter will provide information about the specific concern and recommend that you follow up with your child’s healthcare provider for further evaluation.

Please know that these screenings are not a diagnosis, but they help us identify areas where further attention may be needed. If you have any questions about the referral process, don’t hesitate to reach out to me. I’m happy to provide additional information or support as needed.

Reminder: Keep Students Home if They’re Feeling Unwell

One of the best ways to prevent illness from spreading is by ensuring that students who are feeling unwell stay home to recover. As a friendly reminder, please keep your child home from school if they are feeling unwell in any way. Even mild symptoms can impact their health and the wellbeing of other students and staff. If your child is unwell, please make sure they are symptom-free for at least 24 hours before returning to school. This simple step helps prevent the spread of illness and keeps our school community safe and healthy.

Healthy Habits for a Great Start:

  • Handwashing: Encourage frequent handwashing with soap and water, especially before meals and after using the restroom.

  • Healthy Snacks: Pack nutritious snacks that fuel your child’s body and mind, such as fruits, veggies, and whole grains.

  • Sleep: Make sure your child is getting enough sleep each night. Elementary-aged children typically need 9-11 hours of sleep.

When to Keep Your Child Home:

  • When your child has a communicable disease such as strep throat or conjunctivitis that has not been treated for at least 24 hours with antibiotic medication

  • When your child has had a fever of 100 degrees or greater within the past 24 hours without fever- reducing medication

  • When your child has been vomiting or has had diarrhea within the past 24 hours

A doctor’s note is required if a student is out five (5) or more consecutive days. If an absence is due to a communicable disease or a bone fracture, a doctor’s note is required the day the student returns to school and should include any recess/gym limitations.

Also, please send an extra set of clothing with your child to school. Accidents happen, and we may have limited clothing available at school. Having a spare outfit will help ensure your child stays comfortable throughout the day.

If you have any questions or concerns about your child's health, or if you're unsure whether they should attend school, please don't hesitate to contact me.
